There is no 'bad' or 'good' CD, it all lies in the people who are looking at your CD cover.

CD cover does consist some impact on the buyer but is not strong enough to get people buying your CD if it's not a well-produced album. :) what i'm trying to say is a successful album lie in all area... Pre Production and all the way to marketing it. is useless to spend 10K in production and 1K in marketing cause no matter how good your product is, if your product is unknown to the public, nobody would take notice to ur album. :)

On the contrary bernard, even with heavy marketing, people don't pay attention. The problem lies in the fact that the culture of my generation is such; Singapore Music = Shit, across most of the demographic, and like it or not, the key to achieving some level of commercial success locally would be to crack into that market, wouldn't you concur?

Pumping money into marketing only works when the people you're trying to reach are receptive, and that's what I reckon. Admittedly, I've been considering this for a while and I don't have a solution either. Would anyone care to offer one?

What is there to consider so long for?? The answer is in your product...if it is not good then it does not amtter how much you pump in.....

Hurhurhur... I'm glad you agree that marketing power and label power is as important as the end product. I swallow too like Zoe Tay.

I'm still waiting for the license for the hotdog stand!!! Akan datang!!!

U talk so much but why didn't your good friend Gsonique & SOFT come to the place yesterday night??? The meeting was at 8pm and none showed up so why all this talk when you can't even meet me face to face.

Wah piang eh, you didn't even post the location so all of us who didn't go for the Cannery and St. James launch can go to watch. How can you blame us?

Anyway no point talking to you, you are just a failure as a musician anyway. what would you know.

True true.

That's why must organise our own shows cause no one wanna invite the band.

But what do I know?

I think that " Singapore Music = Shit" is what people heard from the pass.... people (the mass audience who buy CD - not musicians or local bands) listen to music in the market... as for the market, i mean albums from around the world... if our quality of production is too far from what the market offer, people would think that our music is shit.... is difficult to change the first impression on people....
I think local bands has done quite a good jobs in their album recently, better produced and well marketed album start to show up recently... exposure in radio and TV is increasing...
Selling a album is like selling anything, if Fender or gibson is not use by stars or do their promotion by endosing good guitarist, do you think we would know the brands? if they don't do this, i guess when you see fender/gibson in a shop, you will think " what the fuck is fender and they're selling like few K, might as well buy a TGM which use by my friends XXX who played for YYY band" :P

I never said there was anything wrong with the product. I said there was something wrong with the peoples' mentality towards the product.
