i have a dis fren of mine who got lots of expensive gears and one of them is marshall 4x12 cab 75watts celestion..i dunno wat model, he said 1960 blabla. he also got that noiseless pickups.

he's quite a good player, average shredder but then listen to his tone, in my mind i said WTF. i tink i can tweak better settings than him. i know we all have different taste of tone but if u listen to his sound, i swear u guys will agree wif me he sucks.

i've seen posts saying they have podxt lah, mesa dual rectifier, TS-9, mod pedals, tubes replacement, pickups replacement, digital audio gears, modified dis & dat and etc to get 'that' tone or pro recordngs..
can listen to them?

IMO, gear makes you sound better. But it's your fingers that define tone. The pick attack, gradient of your strike all plays a part in the construction of your tone.

Can upload an audio clip of your friend's guitar tone? How bad can it be?

Can someone also point to me an example of good and bad tone? Me still a newbie and I don't quite understand this tone thingie.

an eq/booster will do him more favour than other pedals/equipment if that's what u're saying - equipment tone.
