Should you go AHEAD?

I'm posting this forum for those people who are considering to purchase AHEAD drumsticks.
I used to read forums and reviews, like you guys, before purchasing my pair of Joey Jordison AHEAD drumsticks.

Here are some pros and cons that i have stumbled upon.

Pros

1. AHEAD drumsticks are more durable than wood sticks.
2. AHEAD drumsticks reduces hand fatigue, allowing you to play longer.
3. AHEAD drumsticks sound great on the snare.

Cons

1. AHEAD drumsticks damages the cymbals.
2. AHEAD drumsticks are heavy.
3. The cymbal sounds terrible with AHEAD drumsticks.

When i got my pair of AHEAD drumsticks, i first took a moment to admire the beauty of this sticks cause they just

look awesome!! I then couldn't wait to try them out. And i couldn't stop cause these are the greatest sticks that i

have ever played. Firstly, it was really light. I expected them to be heavy. It took me some time to get used to

them, but once i did, they were just great!!

It sounded great on the snare. It sounded awesome on the cymbals. The sticks just bounce naturally. It's so much

easier for me to roll.

So basically, when it comes to choosing drumsticks (or drums and cymbals for the matter), it all boils down to

personal preferance.

Some people prefer Tama to Pearl. Some people prefer Zildjians to Sabians.

I find AHEAD drumsticks great, while others might find it bad.

So basically, you will have to try it to find out.

i have a joey jordison pair too.

it feels amazing. especially the sound it makes with the snare. yup it doesnt damage cymbals contrary to belief. i got mine for $68 at DRMP.

lasts really long too. great for hard hitters and stuff. you really feel heart pain when you see your sticks start to have cymbal marks. haha.

but its not for everyone. it takes some time getting used to.. because the feel is different from wood sticks. my pair which is 7a size is lighter than some other wooden sticks that i have.. so i dont think weight is an issue. =)

try them out if you can!

pause pause! a pair of sticks for 68?
SGD$68 for a signature pair...
SGD$65 for a normal pair...

Main stick body sleeve and nylon tips replaceable...
Good investment IMO...
I'm sticking to Vater's Smitty's signature custom...^^

duallist is cool, but its nonsense. i dun find it very amazing. a normal double will do all the wonderful job. Its just my humble opinion. :)

agreed. the dualist are overpriced... and in fact, probably harder to use than normal dbl pedals! u have to realease all the way back b4 the second pedal comes down.... if u dont release properly after pedalling down, the second pedal will hit lightly or wont even hit at all. this design actually makes de double pedalling sound uneven as well! a great deal of skill is required to master the usage of these pedals. so might was well go for the good ol conventional dbl pedals.
