what's everyone's take on the Squier basses in general?

i get some good results with the Vintage Modified guitars, thought the basses deserve some attention too...

..

that telecaster bass is a reissue eh.... the original in the 70s was blasted as a CBS failure to listen to consumers. but looking at the bass forums, this version seems to be a welcome comeback. neck pup should provide plenty of deep dub sounds.

i have been eyeing a fender 75 j reissue for the longest time (but not long enough). but no money lah. but look at the tele... i think it looks great. dammit lah this is GAS

i think squier is great. at its price its better than alot of stuff out there

actually i'd prefer the active 5 string jazz bass, juz mi opinion, after playing active, passives just don't cut it for me  , juz mi opinion

the Vintage Modified series weren't conceived to replicate the historical models precisely but some features were incorporated for appeal more than a necessity.

i feel that the regular Squier offerings are a little bland maybe it's down to the price factor per se, but the VMs here are appealing and affordable 8)

..

i believe its agathis

i've tried some of the newer squeirs before, and sorry to say, the build is not up to standard. bad tuners, subpar fretwork, and lousy pups. i'd rather use the money to get a 2nd hand bass or save up for a better quality one.

rr: i,too, got try a squier p bass before, really cannot make it man,the reason is exactly the same like yours, honestly,i rather buy a TGM bass for my practice bass rather than squier

I think the reason many people don't like Squiers is the number of squier horror stories that have been floating around. Stuff like shoddy workmanship, warpping necks, inferior wood etc... These are the sort of things one gets with a 200dollar beginner bass pak, not a bass with the big F's name printed on. In the same price range, one could easily get a well-built Yamaha BB414 or something.

Personally i've nothing against a cheaper copy of an expensive guitar, particularly if it captures the vintage vibe of the classics, provided it proves its worth tonally and with good reliablity. Thank God it isn't just agathis this time. I mean, basswood and maple is a step up at else.

Hopefully it means some improvement in quality. Yup so i will be interested in these should they appear. Perhaps get a copy of certain vibe heavy instruments. heh..

thank's everyone for taking time to address this matter 8)

in terms of availability, let's hope for the best for the above Squiers...
