i meant the Squier tele and Fender tele in general. No particular model. im actually thinking of getting a telecaster and i was wondering if a Squier is any different from a Fender telecaster. Squier seems to be cheaper but im worried it may not be up to standard. So i was just wondering if i should just get a Squier or should i invest on a Fender?

i'd suggest going for the feel and the desired specs, and don't base the decision on price. if it means a few more months of saving, but u get the guitar that feels right for you, then why not?
imo, the squier's are pretty limited. specs wise, there aren't that many models to pick from. i.e. type of bridge, thickness of the neck, radius of the fingerboard, etc. such things should be taken into consideration. however, if the squier's specs are to your requirements, and it feels good when u test it, then its worth the buy, also.

through experience, Affinity Squiers should be avoided, if you are bent on getting one, choose a Standard model instead.

care to share how a normal tele sounds like like on the neck pickup?
coz i tried it once and apparantly i sound quite muddy on a clean channel. is it suppose to be like that? the pickup was US vintage i think...

ok... i found the answer myself
"The two custom Nocaster® vintage Telecaster single-coil pickups feature a custom vintage wiring circuit and three-position blade switching: position 1—bridge and neck pickups with counterclockwise blend control; position 2—neck pickup; position 3—neck pickup with no tone control (dark vintage circuit). Controls include master volume and neck pickup blend (position 1 only)."

If you tried the US Vintage 52 Reissue, which is butterscotch on colour with the infamous black pickguard, then you should be aware that the wiring of that is old style pre-1967. In this wiring the neck pup setting sounds quite bass-like. Switch to modern wiring and you have the versatile Tele sound we all love.
Tele neck pup (single coil version I mean) are generally warm and height sensitive. Raise it high, it will be too warm and in a way bassy....

Hmm.
Considering that this guy likes the tele sound in stairway to heaven (yes, I confirm from some guitar world mag issue I bought looooong time ago that is IS a telecaster thru a marshall) you have to bear in mind that Jimmy page was also a master of using a studio to create a certain sound. So what I'm trying to say is that although the sound we all covet was indeed produced by a tele, in the end it was enhanced by studio technology.
Anyway.. I own a Tele myself, and it's just a stripped down rock machine.. it's perfect IMO for material from the first two led zep albums, and malcolm young-esque rhythm stuff.
Also don't forget that the guitarist(s) from franz ferdinand also use telecasters.. but the humbucker version btw. Can't remember specifically what model they use.

umm.. wasn't a supro a model that Marshall made back in those days? I'm not sure now that u say it, but in a video I saw where they were supros.. they had a marshall brand. confused now.

nick jumps guitars around alil bit tho(epiphone for the sg concert, US telecasters in other performances) BUT his most often used guitar is his red hagstrom p46 guitar.

very the vintage. note the buttons near the pickups are pickup switches. didnt know these kinda guitars exist. calculator..
