Hey guys im actually doing a biology report now for my ca2.
i'd like to gather some opinions from fellow softies.

I plead to all, DO NOT dirty this thread.
i like having my fair share of fun on this forum, but this poll is meant to generate genuine answers.

so please, there are no politically correct/incorrect answers,
answer truthfully, and it would be nice if you could pen down some of your thoughts too. (:

thanks!
vicki(:

IMO, sharks should eat us not the other way around.

As for fur, we humans should be thick skinned enough to resist.

wah seh, i 1st to vote eh? LOL. i wanted to put the 1st option, cos its already dead wat, so might as well eat the fins and wear the fur rite? but then come to think of it again, if everyone did that, the whole population of sharks and other furry animals will be gone sia. oh and, sharks dun eat human la dey, they mistake us for food!! hahaha they dun have good eyesight. watch animal planet!! haha

i never really liked shark's fin and fur anyway.

reminds me of the gruesome truth about shark hunters who catch sharks, cut off their fins, and throw them back into the ocean, where these finless sharks cannot survive at all. watched it on some documentary a long time ago, and it has left a deep impression on me.

all the best for your bio ca2, vicki!

i absolutely stopped eating shark's fin when i was 11. i am prompt to refuse it at wedding dinners without fail. hell, i get scolded and am taunted "stupid" for refusing the delicacy. but heck i'm just going my part, nothing short of that.

as for fur.. well there's no seperate poll, maybe i haven't seen enough of fur as much as shark's fin, given the fact that we're living in Asia. but if given a choice, i'd glue the fur back on the animal.

I'm fine with eating sharks fin actually. Not all the fishers cut off the sharks' fins while they're alive and throw them back to die. Those are the unethical ones.

I guess they need tighter regulations SOMEHOW. But yeah it's tough cause the people who are doing it excessively and in the wrong way are doing it illegally and hiding from the watchgroups. Very much like illegal logging IMO.

vegetarian eat green things.

i salute them. i cant survive on green things. i need meat.

now now, im sure you know what it is.

kerplunk> have wanted to, but it's hard for me, because as big as an animal lover i am, i cannot abstain from meat due to the fact that i actually like the taste of it.
but of course, nothing exotic. i only eat things meant to be eaten, bred for eating.
and i actually need the meat because of the sports i do.

I am not some radical vegan/PETA person, but I think that if we don't show a bit more care to the things around us, the planet has a way of getting back at us. So, whilst I eat meat (been on earth too long to stop - I might die of withdrawal), I do what I can to eat less. I have no problems with leather and other animal by-products, but fur for its own sake doesn't quite do it for me.

The way we over-consume today, just because we are able to just beggars description. IMO, we should go as "lightly" as we can through this life; you cannot eliminate all impact, but we can mitigate our presence.

BTW, to nitpick, perhaps your poll should say "eat meat or wear fur".

BBTW, what's ca2? (I never attended school).

i dont even need any of those.they have chicken and beef for a reason.

they have bugis and far east for another.
but all in all singaporeans wont need fur neither is sharkfin suppose to be a regular cuisine.

i'd eat sharks fin if it was given to me, i dont see the big deal,be it taste or nutrition.

sharks fin has no taste, so i assume you're talkin about the soup?
nutrition, sharksfin is just cartilage, doesnt have any helpful nutrition that i know about.

so no big deal as in, to you it's just another dish?

I love to eat Sharksfin and Shark’s Meat – If I see it at the Dinner-Table I will eat it (probably a typical Chinese I am). Shark is just another fish in the ocean though of a different species. But I will not specially go looking for Sharkfins as I’m not crazy over it.

But I don’t wear Fur (though I like them and only use them as Mats or use it for home decoration purposes.

I know where this question is going (and I would just speak the truth) – and not based on a morally socially accepted behaviour here – or nowadays - - - So that it will not be bais here.

In many parts of the Western World – it’s wrong or even against the law to trade & sell Furs and such (as animals are kill/skin because of their furs).

PS: - Oh and yes – By the way. I’ve ate a Tiger before (don’t ask me where I ate it)..somewhere and my friend paid a high price, when we all ate it.
