got a fair bit of free time recently, hence starting to learn doing setups of guitar on my own, but can anyone enlighten me on this intonation part, how do you do it? had google on how to dont quite understand...

theres quite a few parts to doing intonation(different guitar, different bridge, different way of intonation adjustment) and why its necessary to do intonation, perhaps you might like to pin point/post links here etc, to any particular sentence/paragraph on certain info, articles which you have came across but cant really understand.

It will be easier to help out in more efficient way i find.

ah...ya... ok, im setting the intonation on a les paul. on the web, this is what i dont realli get it..

"Start by tuning up your guitar to proper pitch, now check your High E string tuning at the 12th fret."

this is the part i dont really get it, after i tune all strings to perfect pitch,(eadgbe) im suppose to press the string on the 12th fret and check the tuning to be the same pitch as the open string??? cos however i adjust the saddle, i cant get it to b the same pitch as the open string....

im a noob when it comes to technical stuff...")

Basically it means if you got a perfect e on the open string, you should get a perfect e on the 12 fret too.

You have to find a way to get it to be the same. Heh.

ya i know what it means, thats the problem here, after tuning all the strings to perfect pitch, and press the strings on the 12th fret, i cant get the same pitch, no matter how i adjust the saddles.....example 6E will always be a 4D pitch when press on the 12th fret...haha..

anything ive done wrongly??lol...

adjust individual saddle distance, not adjust saddle height.

saddle closer to nut = higher pitch.
saddle further from nut = lower pitch
