hey guys need some advice.I might be planning to sell a american fender 60th anniversary. But i think it will take awhile to load it off on SOFT.
will the guy at guitar connection take my guitar at a reasonable price?
how much do you think i can fetch?

If u wanna get ripped off then u should sell it there... he'll take ur axe for about 50% of what you can sell it for... even if its in pristine condition

bro, bring your guitar down to gc, and ask him to quote you a price. then take it from there. if u think its good, go ahead. if not, sell it here. or share with us.

my guess is as good as anyone's. its better selling here. and true, they got rent and staff costs too, to pay for.

+1 Well said bro.

If you can't find buyers in here, price it lower then. There are many used gear out there and price is really competitive (unless yours is a rare item). Buyers are more price sensitive too these days. But do stay firm and don't get lowballed.

Anyway you somehow will sell at better price here than selling to those shops.

yes, agree.. GC will quote higher, but naturally so cos they are a business and must cover rent and salaries..

if youre not in a hurry to sell, some shops will allow you to sell your guitar on consignment. I think blackwood does that sometimes. You can check with them on the commision they take for the sale.

the shop would take about 10% - 15% after the guitar is sold. IMO it is better to put it for consignment as there are people who don't visit soft but go to a guitar store everyday. that is the targeted audience.

furthermore, the boss would probably be better at convincing someone to buy your guitar. he is a salesman after all.

I happen to think of this question reading your post...if you put a guitar on consignment at a shop, and you also post it on SOFT. Is this 'ethical'? I'm asking cause I thought about a situation whereby you post it on SOFT and put the instrument on consignment at a store.

And if you sell it via SOFT, that means you don't have to pay the commission but yet it isn't fair cause you already left your guitar at the store and they're hoping they could sell it for you.

yup thats right. its unethical. I'm sure the store owner will take note of you :) .
