Calling all school band/ military band/ concert band/ wind orchestra etc members (or alumni) out there. This is a thread to see how many of you are out there. If there are a lot, then perhaps we can request for a separate section for you to discuss band music/techniques/pieces etc.

Please tell us what instrument you play.

I'll start.

I played the trumpet in my secondary school and JC days (started about 20 years ago). Then proceeded to play the cornet in the SIR Band in the army (before I became an MO) - first stand and bugle.

i play the tuba in northland sec (and man do i suck at it.)
started three years ago as a cca .

Hi Dissonance, are they still using the old recording of the bugle for Last Call? They recorded me in 1992.

Also, I sequenced the silly drum solos for them - they were sick and tired of playing repetitive drum solos during the dreaded SAF Day Parade, so they asked for a drum machine to do it instead! Wonder if they are still using that one too! :D

Playing in SPband...been playing since sec sch...plays flute and piccolo...drums as secondary instrument.

the bugles calls?... im not sure... heard it was either played by yusri or shannon.....even tho im a trumpeter myeslf but i dont usually care whos playing as long im not the one playing haha... We still do recording once in a while...all those usual songs... Tentera singapura, SIR march ... e usual...

they are still using drum solo 1 all the way la... once a while you hear 2 or 3..etc

drum solos for COD really depends on whos conducting..

and yes SAF day is a pain in the A*s 2 hrs long parade.... who says saf band is relax..

I used to be a woodwinder ... clarinet, oboe, flute and a percussionist. 5 years in all but that was like soooooooooooo long ago.

Oh yea, we are one of the first few bands (not much bands explore in that manner) to re-write pop music into classical performing routine. Arts Festival Orchard Road parade, Military Band second behind St Margaret's Girls School on first attempt... Ok, lah, achieve quite alot for our once-oh-so-boring school band.

We were in the rifle range, and it was through that then I realised the underground rifle range is a damn good soundroom. LOL!

clarinet all the way.

picked up sax, realized the embrouchure was different now have a sax to sell.

rawr.

Hmm. Not that many band members here. Perhaps we should start to actively gather them and let them know about SOFT. People who are in concert/symphonic bands now, what about passing the word around about SOFT.

Dissonance, tell your Band A people to log on. Frummer, do tell the SP band people (I see your band has a page in soundclick!).

it would be really fun if we can have more musicians from school bands to come in. i will be most interested to fuse different players to do something fun.

hi there

i played euphonium in acs barker band from 1995-1998.

currently an electric guitarist, but want to pick up jazz trumpet soon. may be buying a used trumpet soon.

anyone know anyone who can teach jazz trumpet?

it'd be great to gather everyone from wind bands / school bands! :D... then we can find a more variety of players if we wanna form bands haha.. here mostly all guitarist//drummers/bassists/keys.

kinda very late reply, but i do play flute in my sec sch and poly days.
been 1+ years since i last played, but i wanna continue to play in a outside band or somewhere.
Any recommendations for outside bands?
im okay so long as i tgt play in a group, scary to play solos and all.
