Madwerewolfboy, Tetragrammaton, Tomomi, let's try to make this discussion a cordial one, alright? We can "agree to disagree", but please don't be personal and mock.

Thank you, kindly.

FGL, you're a funny one!

Check Aesop out, he's kinda cool. His teaching and stories are incredible. It's so easy to understand, compared to all the preaching done by priest or elders.

Btw, Aesop is also a brand of a famous cosmetic. Hahah..

FGL, thank you for being a gentleman in this discussion; although we have different beliefs and visions - we are both trying our best to contribute to the local music scenes in our own way.

I hope the rest of the non-pay-to-play community can display such gentlemanly behaviour.

Best,
TF

aesop is an ancient guy who tells fables. so the quote is just a quote from a fable, apparently it doesn't apply to the real world.

Hi Van_Halen, my fellow Yamaha Nut. :)

Actually, his stories and teaching reflects in our daily lives even till today. Remember the story of "the hare and the tortoise", it's from him too!

Not to be too proud and under estimate your opponent (lesson to be learnt from the hare) ; never give up, never give in (lessons to be learnt from the tortoise). Double lessons in that story, how good is that!

I strongly believe in kindess. I don't demand to have anything in return, but I can only hope.

Best,
TF

Hey trippy!

No offence there! You believed in 'pay to play' thing....it's your call as you're one of those organizers. Because we don't fork out any money doesn't mean we have to gain. Stop being too money minded. Money is not everything and we all have our own cause to it. You have yours like gaining some profits as your main objective which is not wrong. And maybe you're a businessman. We are not alike. We are real musicians who can't tolerate anymore seeing fellow musicians following the stupid trend that has been going on for some times. As I've said before, you will still have your market of people. You do yours what you think best and we just do ours. Whether it's gonna fail or succeed further, it is no one's call.

We the committee of SBCS don't get free drinks. We buy our own drinks to support each other in every way. No one is to earn anything from this event except for the venue that sponsor for our events. But best of all, the bands don't have to sell tickets or pay for an entry. Prices of drinks are brought down due to the thought that many youngsters will be around. That's how we have our thoughts down. Our Cameramen, logistic people on the grounds are all volunteers. Why are you so worried for us not gaining any form of return? We do it for the musicians in particular young or old. If all of us wish to remain to be hobbyist or go further would you know that? It's all about choice!

Ok, let's put aside who's right and who's wrong. I think there is room for experiment here. In fact, this is what a free market should be like. Anyone can do anything, only the market force will decide the sustainability.

I will close this thread now so that we can go out and continue doing what we believe in without having to argue for the right to do so.
