hi, need a little help here. Just wana know wether is there such software that i can control my m audio trigger finger the same way as how mpc works? like triggering a recorded sound from it. hope this is clear enuf for you guys to understand.

Any softsampler can do that - from ableton live, sampletank, giga, kontakt etc. I believe you can find open-source softsamplers nowadays if you don't need lots of power. Reason also has a sampler in it, I believe.

The way to do it is to map the pads to a note. That note can be programmed easily in the softsampler, looped or not.

MPC Style drums...

Battery is good but if you use Ableton Live as your host I find the in-built Impulse flexible enough. Also Live 7 has some nice beat chopping features so you can load in a loop and automatically spread it along the pads for Hip Hop style chop ups.

BTW I use the MPD16 pads with my Ableton Live setup but I don't recommend because the driver will blue screen the PC constantly. I have to run them as MIDI only. The M-Audio pads are meant to be good.

Nic.
