Roadrunner United – The All-Stars Sessions

Just got the CD. Haven't really sat down to listen to it yet, but I've watched the accompanying DVD. The DVD is actually worth the price of the whole package alone. Well at least me thinks so! It's basically an hour-long documentary showing the recording process of the songs, with various musicians giving interviews. It's really cool to see your metal heroes working it out in the studio. Like when Jeff Waters of Annihilator keeps screwing up his guitar solo, Robb Flynn trying to figure out how to play with Chimaira's ex-drummer who actually reads music and kind of technical. Or witness Steve DiGiorgio (Sadus and a whole lot of other bands) plays some insane stuff on the bass. Joey Jordison up close and personal sans mask, King Diamond up close and personal sans make-up AND moustache (!). And guitarists, beware of the scene where the two Trivium guitarists (what are they, 19, 20 years old??) do some serious shredding in the studio. It'll leave you crying in utter disbelieve. I know I did. Bastards.
Anyway, anybody who's into metal should check this out. Especially studio geeks. There's a whole lot in there to take in. A worthwhile concept and a unique package. Get it today.

Yours lovingly,
Judaspiss.

At HMV for $22 plus.

Wow... all I can say is that, the price is really cheap considering HMV's standard... Those guys are always jacking up the prices!

By the way, did you see Anthrax's "Anthrology" there?

Hey, maybe they tagged the price wrongly or something!
Yeah I wish...

I didn't notice the Anthrax CD dude. I'm guessing it's a little harder to find cos I found out from someone in the 'music selling biz', bands like Anthrax don't sell very well over here. But I'm sure it'll surface...

you can get the vcds at Queensway shopping centre as well..
Are you talking about Anthrax's "Anthrology" or Roadrunner United? And what's the price(s)? Is it the basement CD shop besides the toilet?

btw my band members are thinking of playing in the fire..
but the prob the vox is done by King Diamond..darn

sorry DontDeRockMe..if i`ll vist queensway again i`ll pm you

How much is the Roadrunner CD selling in Queensway?

What?? You're thinking of covering In The Fire?!

Can I actually SEE you guys play that? King Diamond is my Papa, you understand? Plus, the guitar solos in that song is insane, courtesy of Trivium. So far I've never seen any local bands playing King Diamond or Mercyful Fate songs before. Well, except Eibon, who played A Mansion In Darkness in a few gigs.

Anyway, you don't have to follow the vocals exactly.
Do it your way dude!
Rock on!

No problem at all, penguin! I'm actually working quite near to that area so might pop by if I'm free. Thanks for the info!

Got this band CD early this month and I'm impressed. Can't wait to hear what the guy has to offer on the Roadrunner United tracks.

the DVD is worth it just for the footage of mike smith (suffocation) drumming...my jaw just about hit the floor at that point.

One more thing I have to say before I get to the review is that my favorite style of music is metal, but it is more specifically directed towards nu-metal

theres your explaination.

Then comes in Dawn of a Golden Age which reminds me of Cradle of Filth. Maybe that is because it is Dani Filth himself doing the vocals

*smacks forehead*

Woah cool...A muz get...

BTW...Any of u guys saw a King Diamond - Abigail? The re-release version with accompanying DVD? Looking for this cd for quite a while already...

I saw that one at Inokii, but it has since been sold. I think it was selling for 35 bucks. Man, I should've bought that baby when I saw it! Darn.
Anyway I got the Mercyful Fate's Melissa album with the DVD instead. There are a few old live performances of the band in there, but the footage is old and the sound is crappy. The CD packaging is pretty cool though, with extensive liner notes on the sleeves about the band and the making of the Melissa album. Howevertheless, I think the Abigail CD is much better cos it has more live footage and music videos as well.
All hail King Diamond.

Arghhhh!!! Still cant get my hands on their re-release with DVD!! Hail king diamond!! \m/

*sings*Im kneeling...In front of the altar...*Sings*
