Ok! i know i made a poll system in my recent post regarding the colour of what tele i should be getting.

But putting that post behind, i thought very hard, whether i should go for a Startocaster or a Telecaster.

Ok this is the music and genres i want to play.

-*Red Hot Chili Peppers* Die Die must play!
-Blues. (Blues Improvisations)
-Classic Rock. (Aerosmith, Rolling Stone, Pink Floyd)
-Rock N' Roll (Guns N' Roses)
-Alternative Rock (Coldplay,Artic Monkeys)
-Grunge Rock (Foo Fighters,Nirvana)

Yeah. Basically this type of music. At first i thought of getting a Mexican Standard Tele. But after much thought, i think the Stratocaster may be a good deal too.

So fellow softies, please! Help me! WHICH TO MAKE THE CUT?
STRATOCASTER OR TELECASTER?

Umm. If its a startocaster. I wouldnt mind Japanese Fender.
But i'm not so sure where to get Japanese Fenders at a good price. Oh i only want first hand. unless its really mint, no scratch, very little oxidation.

SO ya, thnx alot!

Recap what to help me
1. Strato or Tele
2. Where to get first hand Japanese Strats at about $799
(Any Model would do. Just at that price range. I dont have a lot of money)

Yeah! So thnx alot
I noe im very lolososo. But have to make clear. Its a very big decision!

Cheers!:)

its hard to say. if you wanna churn out fat tones, you need a lespaul imo.
you wanna twang go got a strat/tele.

me says get one of each. :D

i have a lovely lp and now i'm gassing for a strat cos of the twang. its hard to have a guitar which has a fat tone and can twang at the same time. its like saying i wanna have both male and female organs.

Lolz to funktastic...

People normally get strats for their versatility... Not to say that teles aren't versatile, but its just that they hold more twang, I'd say a tiny bit more sharper high ends (to some its ear drums tearing...)

I'd say strat according to your die die must play... But I'd go for a tele... so its really up to you... Try it out at the shop first, both of 'em before buying.

hahaha. when you have a lp for too long you'll start to wanna twang. and lp's aren't good for twang-ing. play long enough and you'll wanna do everything, dive bombs to twang to fat.

erm. but where can i get first hand japanese strats for a good price? any model would do. at around $800?

He doesn't use the moog delay.
He only uses moogerfoogers because it replicates his in studio effects.

Besides, his main sound comes from his style. Not so from his effects.

heh, i believe rottenramone wasnt exactly too serious when he mentioned that. And geez, who in the right mind will use 17 delays. Heh, 17 m104, will be around 19k sgd. Can use as downpayment for cars, house or foreign bride!

your best bang for buck would be the MIJ 1962 RI strat(not one with texas pickups). I got mine 2nd hand at $650
Strats are more versatile for the music you play.
Frusciante dont use his tele anymore, neither does he use his gretch white falcon. He uses strats and a bit les paul through out the Stadium Arcadium tour.

The 1962 vintage american strat fitted with vintage noiseless pickups is the main guitar for the entire stadium arcadium tour. You see it 80% of the time in these tours. That will cost you alot. and SO, the next best option would be to get the MIJ or CIJ 1962 Reissue vintage strat. Its built fairly close to the original specifications.
As for pickups, i feel that the texas pickups are too hot for John's type of sound, the other one with vintage pickups will be a better choice.

Well.. thats just my opinion as a frusciante guru. Tone is subjective

He doesn't use the vintage noiseless pickups.
His gear are usually stock.

However he and his tech did mention that 1 of his guitar has a set of SSL-1s in them, but they sounded really good and he got them in the guitar when he bought it.

His '62 was a gift from anthony, and 80% is a bit too much.
his '61 olympic white strat shares almost equal amount of playing time on tour as his '62. He didn't use his '55, although a lot of the SA album was recorded using it.
