Its basically an Evolution with less voltage and more headroom (doesent overdrive amps as easily as an Evo, yet it still does. ) . So its got the same basic tone of an Evo, and inherit some of its characteristics (high, almost shrill, great harmonics, very cutting) but its just more 'cooler' in terms of output. Less shrill too, a little warmer , just got to roll down volume and tone.
An Evo isn't for beginners, very clear, cutting and every mistake,finger noise, everything can be heard. and an Evo2 is similar, only with less output and more dynamics response. How about you go for Breed/Breed, like my rg450? Its a foolproof combination. Can't go wrong!

the last time i read, the Breed wasn't conceived to inherit any Evo qualities. Vai wanted a very PAF-like tone for his JEM 7B but something more cutting edge.
I used Breeds for a long time... very nice vintage tone with modern power.
