Reverb Pedals: Advise needed

Hmmm.... Okay, I have a DE7. Its great, really great. But I realised, I don't set a hi delay time. I prefer the echo (duh) and its always set to sound like a hall reverb with slight slapback.

Thing is, I think I'm a reverb guy.

Having no experience with Reverb pedals whatsoever, and taking harmony central reviews with many fistfuls of salt, I have narrowed it down to these.

  • Boss RV5
    EH Holy Grail
    Line 6 Verbzilla

I am not too concerned abt pricing, since Swee Lee (RV5), Yamaha (HG) and City Music (Line6) are all having sales now.

What I want is authentic sounding, warm lush reverb.

Does anyone has experience with the above? Pls give a rundown esp regarding tone and noise (if any).

from what i heard at line6's website, the clips and videos, the verbzilla sounds very nice, im considering one too

Im a fan of the EH holy grail...

the boss RV sounds digital to me
not sure about the Line 6 though.

I have an RV-5 which I am very pleased with. I think the 'digital' bite perceived by some that this pedal can emit can easily be countered using the effective onboard tone control. It is as capable of producing a warm reverb as the warmth of the dry signal that enters it. Couple this with the number of modes that it has an emulations of various spaces make this quite versatile. IMHO the pedal is very transparent (and quiet too). It eats batteries though (which I suppose most people don't use these days) - a PP3 will last about 30 minutes in it. :)

Heheh... Unsane... :) I dunno if I wanna sell it.. .maybe use it as a hostage in a trade. Still considering getting another DE7, why? Because... Erm... heh. ;)

The Holy Grail is also being considered... however, its durability is suspect. Seems a lot of ppl complain abt it breaking down.

The Verbzilla is high up the list from what I heard in the website, however, nothing from Line 6 has impressed me so I remain skeptical.

Vernplum, I'm very interested in this RV5. Pm-ed you.

Next to getting a tube reverb tank such as the Fender Reverb unit , i think a Holy Grail is a good choice.

No no... I don't use amps when gigging (if i ever), I just bring my pedalboard.

Checking up the Holy Grail and Verbzilla now

how much does the rv-5 cost aniways? I really feel Boss shouldnt have discontinued the rv-3. I really like delay+reverb together as one. :D
