Hi guys, i just started drumming 1 mth ago.. still don't know much about drum gears.. just like to enquire if theres any good place to reskin my snare drum as i bought it second hand and is kind of cui.. 1 of the springs at the bottom broke also.. so any recommendation? like what kind of skin to change.. the price etc... btw is a Carlos snare... haha.. million thx SOFTIES friends.. :)

hey. changing of heads is like changing guitar strings. people normally do it themselves yea. so you could buy the heads yourself. most popular brands in sg are remo or evans. you can get remo from sweelee or evans from ranking sports or yamaha. i presume your snare is a 14" snare. so get a 14" head. but rmbr get a snare head not a tom head. yea. do some research before hand online then you head down. i think a head roughly cost 30plus for the batter. and also another 30plus for the resonant if you intend to change all.. yea. after you purchase you can either ask around here or go youtube and watch some vids on how to change.

as for the springs. buddy its called snare wires. the stuff thats under the snare right? those that buzz. yea snare wires. you can get them from any store that sells drum stuff. you can try the puresound snare wires not bad.

hope this helps you if there is still anything just post and ask we will definitely try to help..

For sweelee it ranges from 20+ to 40 or so if I remember correctly. 20+ is the clear transparent heads. Coated is around 30, the fibreskyn and ebony heads are more expensive. I rarely see clear on snares, but I'm using it on one of mine, it sounds fine. Quite a lot of ring though.
Probably, a coated ambassador will do fine (coated is the type of head, it's those white heads you see, it's just the transparent head with a white layer coated on it; "ambassador" is a medium weight)

I think if just one snare wire broken don't need to change yet lah... can still use for a while.

Are u talkin about reskinning as in removing de wrap n changin a new skin for de drum? Or juz de heads? If ur talkin about heads, u can try using Weatherking Remo Coated Ambassadors on de batter like composer said n with a Weatherking Diplomat Clear for de resonant head. Im using this combination on mine n it sounds quite decent.

Btw where can i get puresound wires?

I Think The Studio Near My Place Can Help.

I think the studio near my home call Club Paradise can help.
Cause I see people bring snare drums there and ask the staff
for advise and they change it for them. Just give them
a call @ 67831938 before you go down. Also the coffee next to it got nice
food. You can go the to eat as well. My family always eat there.

erm. i think nigel has them. yup. is there another brand called purecussion? i not sure. but yea. the main few will have. but yea i got my off ebay yea. no time and too lazy to go out and purchase myself. heh.

yeah, Nigel (Drums Resources) has Puresound snare wires for sure. Think if he's free, he'll even change the wires on the spot for u.

Purecussion is the brand of drum_hobbyist's kit, so nothing to do with snare wires specifically, I'm sure.

if im not wrong, purecussion was a subsidiary by DW (drumworkshop) which's now no longer in service...

is bronson still at club paradise? lol.

if ur in a tight budget, i'd recommend visiting ranking sports and music to purchase your evans rev center power dot head - about 18 bucks and a hazy 200/300 for about 15 bucks...

and u could get the pearl snare wires from swee lee, about less then 20 bucks.. puresound wires are pretty costly and not worth it if u we're to change it on a carlos snare..but it's ur money so it's up to you...

hope this helps!
