anw,why is it called sonic arts?does anyone knows?

Hello there, I'm a Sonic Arts student going year 2 this year.

Well, Sonic Arts is called Sonic Arts cause we're dealing with lots with sound, hence the word 'sonic' and also using it as a form of art. As for Replug, I believe it is a fine IG(CCA for those who are not familiar with the term) to join. Though, I'd encourage you to check out Jammerz Arena as well ;)

you can't really say which is better because they're different. acoustic / electric. something that makes you say same same but different eh? hahah:D

Replug is more for Vocalist wile Jammerz is for Bands?is it?
ANW!what do u guys study in first Year of sonic arts?

No. Don't think so. Put it this way. (:

Replug plays acoustic sets. JA plays electric sets.

Haha. Well, they're changing syllables and stuffs, so what i learnt in year 1 might be different from your coming year in RP.

Cheers
:D

Yup, Replug basically plays acoustic sets while we in Jammerz Arena play electric sets. It's all up to your preferences whether you prefer playing acoustic or electric.

haha!okay!mre intrested in jammerz arena then!
:D
anw,in ure syllabus, wht do u guys study for frst yr sonic arts?!
:D

hehe sorry to bump up post.

Year 2 going year 3 DSA XD

JA is more towards what you see in a normal band with all those electric stuff.
Replug is more acoustic wise.

I do not know much about these two IG, i'm a black sheep in STA taking sports as a interest group. XD

Hi Ruff. :)
Anyway, hello, I am Alex. Year 1 going 2 in Sonic Arts. And I am also a bassist and a committee member in the Replug IG.

Let me do the comparisons this way, have you heard 98.7's Stripped? We're somewhat similar to that- we re-arrange hits or songs that we like based on the way we want to interpret it.
For example, if you like the lyrics of some song but feel like it could be sung or played in another way, Replug is where you meet musicians who feel the same.
So in a way, you'd improve your song arranging/genre palette.

But of course, we have limitations, and that is, we are "stripped" of all electric instruments with exception to an electric grand piano.
And one thing about this IG, it may be difficult to adapt to new envrionments and styles, it takes great perseverance and patience to be able to blend in.
I understand that sometimes, you feel that some songs should not be changed, and they are perfect in their own way- however, as artists and as a performing arts interest group
it is your turn to transform it so that the song wraps around your personality- we have a motto which is "Unplugged Redefined." So we always live up to audience's expectations by giving these hits their own unique twist- thats when you'll encounter many challenges.

If you don't get what I mean maybe you can check our channel out :)

Don't get me wrong, I kinda enjoy being around JA too- their performances are kickass.
JA to me provides a platform where you can meet other musicians easily and play what you like.
If you're hoping to find a nice home in school where you can just jam with other musicians that share similar interests with you.(and its free)
Problem is- there's only one room! But you can work around that, seriously.

In a nutshell,
Replug - acoustic music, challenged to redo songs and add our own unique twists to them
Jammerz Arena - full band with electric instruments, jamming with people who have similar interests.

Prior to selecting which IG you want you can catch them at jam'n'hop or the student life activities fiesta, you won't miss it if you go for the orientation events.
I can assure you that you will have a lot of fun in either IGs, so :)

Cheers!
