replacing guitar parts, need recommendations

hi to all, need help with doing up my guitar.

i have a yamaha erg 121, with HSH config and vintage tremolo.
basically the guitar is not working now, probably some fault with the electronics.
hence rather then just repairing it, i thought i would upgrade it at the same time.
what i need is recommendations on replacement bridges and tuners and the nut since im still using the default ones and they are not really serving me well.
the guitar easily goes out of tune.

i have a budget of 300 dollars, if its not enough will just get a new guitar lol

thanks in advance

Get a new guitar!

SOFT Best quote award goes to shredcow.

Anyways, i agree totally with daniel.

is 300 not enough or the guitar not worth upgrading? pls be more specific tks
if not, how bout a breakdown on how much a typical upgrade job would cost?

guit not worth upgrading..

pickups if u wan dimarzio 80 EACH SECOND HAND. :D

install 3 pickups -price vaRIES, get it done by beez at ebenex. overall. will cost more than 300 bro.

Planet waves tuners(maybe slightly tricky to install) $60-70 Bal $230
some electronics 2 x pots, switch, jack $30-40 Bal $190
Some secondhand Duncan or Dimarzio pickups Neck and Bridge $150 Bal $40
Find someone who will help you do the electronics installation$40

Done!

whoops... no budget for strings.

$300 can't get you much guitar but maybe you can score a deal on buy and sell.

and this $300 spend won't make your guitar anymore valuable if you decide to sell it.

get a new guitar first. slowly save up money, and use this yamaha erg as a project guitar to learn how to do stuff urself, at the end of the day u save alot more replacing parts urself rather then sending it to some tech

keep it stock! I only changed the faulty vol & tone pots, 3 way selector & capacitor from my Yamaha RGX 420 ... Tuners can be tightened etc.

No point spending on upgrrades then later when you try to sell, you lose out to lowballers who wont take inot account the new items installed.

bro fgl bro... please be reminded that....

rgx420 and an ERG121 are two DIFFERENT animals altogether.

yes bro edder - I see your point

ok maybe you can upgrade the tuning heads - I got a set of diecast tuners taken from a california series strat going for $15 - mint / barnd new - only thing is that if you dont mine the engraved "squier" on the back of each tuner casing.

heh heh... the RGX pickups are already pretty decent to start with.

Tuners wise, i'd say to go with locking tuners. Planet waves are cheap and very usable. No point replacing budget tuners with another set of budget tuners.

let beez touch up? what for?
i think this should serve as ur project guitar. learn to stuff on it, like pup swaps, nut change, re-frets, setup, etc... explore the limitless thing u can learn by just having a guitar to mess around with.

thats how most ppl get started into doing their own mods and repairs. save hell of a alot of money.

tks all for the advice, yes i dont intend to get a new instrument with just $300, theres no point lol
i want to do it up cos this guitar has been with me for quite some time already

edder - u wanna buy my squier tuners? come complete with the neck, body, pups, brudge etc only $250?
