Re-painting in car workshop

Hi,

Regarding re-painting in car workshop. It is possible to get a good solid colour with laquered finish in car workshop

But for other designs it would be very difficult.

The disadvantage is that the finishing of the laquer would be very thin and not suited for guitar. You would have to do some finishing touches yourself.

i got 1 friend that do guitar paint job...but he never own a shop, well,he did paint my bass and i can say that it was a good job =) summore only 1-2weeks,that time i asked guitar workshop, takes 2 months to paint a guitar!! really long sia...

i repainted my guitar b4 too. it took me about a month to strip paint and repaint. at first everyone thot it was a really gd job..however, if u do this within such short period of time, the paint isnt given enuf time to harden fully, if it does, it means your not applying enuf coats. if this happens, u will find that the paint comes of realy easily if u drop ur guitar or bang it against sumtin. guitar workshop stated 2 months bcos of this reason, after applying each main colour few coats, the paint is left to fully harden for at least 2 weeks. ofcourse u can use heat lamps and al, but allowing it to harden naturally is better. the paint really adheres onto the body better. this allows lesser chances of paint chips.

Hi,

As ex-staff of GW, I agree with dric. =)
i.e. Process
1 day to strip paint properly.
1 day to let wood dry and season before painting
1 day to coat
1 day to let harden (if rains ............ take longer)
and process goes on

Altogether quite a lot of coats

After coating, still have finishing to do. plus other guitars as well. that's why takes so long.

=)

yea man. anyways, if u really wanna repaint ur guitar, better do a gd job with it. u dont want any regrets later. stuff like this, no short cuts man.
