Hi everyone- yet another poll? yes + want to know which brand names are in demand, respectable enough to be recommended to others 8) doesn't matter if it's full-tube or otherwise, which ones do you recommend to fellow players? any specific reasons?

agree.

sometimes a certain brand name would conjure a certain genre when a little reading up of the manufacturers' catalogues would reveal other models in their offerings that are suitable for other music types.

example: Fender = immaculate clean tones but the Metalhead is great for high gain/ intense distortion:

Give me a 65 Deluxe Reverb any day... I'll get the rest of the sound I want from a few pedals... But that 6V6 tone cannot be replaced!!!

Yes. Roland's stuff is good too. The cube series is pretty decent.
The jazz chorus takes pedal very very well.

As for Mesa's, i guess they are associated with rock/metal/prog rock.

Crate's powerblock is a cool thing.

I voted for fender because of their "budget" tube amps. The pro/blues jr. Very reasonably priced.

The problem I find with that amp is that it comes with an EL84 tube. That' not a very classic Fender tone (6L6), but is a more british (Marshall) sound. But it works for Blues...

Actually, one should consider the Princton Recording amp from Fender. Got power attenuator, so can play softly at full volume at home... heh...

Im on a pro Jr now. haha.

Kinda missing my EQ settings. Now i only have one tone knob. from bright to dark.

That's GOOD!!!! less confusion... whahahaha... What can I say? It's a Blues amp... Tone/EQ is meant to come from your FINGERS...

glad to know that i'm not the only one here who doesn't fancy the EL84 but i must say it sounds superb in Laney's LC15R...

yeah... the LC15R is cool... ESPECIALLY the accutronics reverb it comes with... heh. But then, we DON'T expect a signature clean tone from a Laney, do we? But we do of Fender...

for the MESA references, is it desireable because of its embrace by popular players, or is it simply tonal lure?

i was GASsing for a Triple Rec once but after hearing it in person, it was a no go. all due respect to the amp per se- very good tones but it's not what i hear from players who use these live/ in their recordings. it's down to the supplements they feed into this amp, namely other pre-amps/ FXs...

I like the old fender tube amps most... V nice cleans, n im more of a 6l6 guy... They r also v frenly with pedals, n has nice breakup.

Also had gd results with a musicman amp. Marshalls not really for me, cuz its got to be play at that sweetspot n it TOO loud, but jtm45 is real ballsy when cranked.

Wish i got a trainwreck, or diezel hehe
