Hello need some help here.....im thinking of gettin a guitar for my brother who is picking up the electric guitar. He plays mainly rock/alternative music ala ash nirvana foo fighters coldplay travis radiohead manic street peachers etc etc. My budget is ard 900-1050 and im looking for something that is value for money and able to last a lifetime. Pls assist me by recommending me some brands/models/estimated price and shops to look at so as to give me a headstart. Thanks all

P.S i actually went recce-ing ysterday and i saw many brands like fender, ibanez, prs etc...frankly i noe nuts haha pls help!

You can go Swee Lee, they sell those starter kit...
Or my recommendation to you is;

Guitar: A Yamaha Pacifica 412V
Amp: Marshall MG15-CDR
Others: Boss OS-2

the left over cash u can buy other stuff like, guitar strap, cables, gig bag

Fender ST-43 from luther. Not the mid scale one. Normal scale neck =]

Its 850+ if im not wrong. With bag.

Its very worth it, will last ur bro a lifetime

hmm.... Epiphone Les Paul, Yamaha Pacifica 812w, ESP LTD EC-50... alot more.... basically you have to try it out at the stores also.... Best you can get someone who's knows about electric guitar to go....

Alamak bro, $1k is a lot of money, can buy "medium to high end" range in my opinion. Maybe try Yamaha Pacifica 112? it will cost u less than $500, and its a workhorse!

But i think if you were to buy a yamaha pacifica.... go get a 812W coz, it comes with DS pickups rather than 112 which comes with a not so gd pickups, but the diff in price is quite alot though.... a 112 might be less than 500, but 812w cost abt 1k+ abit

thanks bt my budget is only for a guitar.......amp i have already...hehe care to recommend again?

get good distortion or overdrive pedals too, or multi-effects. I'm using zoom gfx-1, good enough for tone beginners like me playing around with sound.
$150 at luthermusic. But if you want something for a lifetime, go for something else. any recomendations anyone?

thanks

heya thanks alot guys it was a great deal of help on the type on guitars. as my bro is really a rookie can anyone pls explain to me wad are coils ? frets ? pickups ? i believe all this stuff are very important when getting a guitar so they effect the sound ? it would be best if someone can explain the types n their difference
p.s thanks for all the help

if it helps, i have some guitars with list prices up on GEAR NEWS 2005, along with a review for selected models... 8)

i think the ibanez RG321 will really suit your bro..versatile, nice tones for under $500 and won't have to deal with floyd rose when new to electric guitars...

thanks for all the advice...but i read somewhere in the forum abt Epiphone Les Paul series and Fender US Highway1 and Fender Japan St-43 and PRS santana SE hw are thse actualY? anyone care to comment? thanks alot and point taken for all advices from the friendly friends here

ahaha. no idea y pple always recommend stuff in starter kits esp since u got de money. well. gd if u haf de money. no point saving up like what pple would usually do. my opinion. spend about 900 on the guitar. ibanez is a very trustworthy brand. esp the RG series.
