Hi,

I thought of getting a new electric guitar within 800-1000 budget.

I tried the LTD EC 401vf and it is retailling at davis for $850, and i got a friend selling his fender stratocaster with 1 humbuckle at $650 what do you guys think are they good choices?

As I heard the resale value for LTD is low and it is heavy etc.

I would like sounds like muse, guns and roses, a7x, gazette, nightmare(Jrock) etc.

Or any other guitars from schecter, ibanez or epiphone would u guys recommend?

Thanks! :p

If you are bothered by resale value, target the 2nd hand guitars. You don't lose as much.

Btw the Fender with 1 humbucker for $650 is a good price BUT that depends on the model and condition. Do your research and do not buy just because he is your friend.

other things to take note of is whether the guitar is set up well. do note that a regular set up could cost you around $100.

TS: Like relinquish mentioned,

I agree that buying 2nd hand would be better value in terms of cost and resale value.
From the choices of music that you have mentioned, how about picking up a les paul.

Maybe an edwards
A used edwards should cost within your budget
:)

To know if a guitar is well setup can only be told if you have some experience in knowing.
Guitar spraying can try guitar workshop at bras basah. but it does not come cheap.

At the end of it, it all comes down to personal preference.

Schecter got so cheap? I saw a schecter synster gates standard selling at $1050 at bwg guitars.

But i heard Davis prices are quite overrated.

Is it so?

PRS prices are steep as what i saw at davis leh.

How about tanglewood guitars?

haha i personally think the $790 UNO guitar sub mentioned are a steal. esp the one with the nice maple top, i believe that's the passive humbucker unit.

I think the fender deal is pretty good, check the condition of the guitar and test it. If you like the sound, you should go for it. If you want a new guitar with high resale value, get a fender standard or a deluxe. They sound pretty good too.
