recommendation needed for a practice amp

Hi all

I need a practice amp. I need one that is both small and very very portable and it must have good sound. (Price and volume are not important.)

In terms of size and portability, it must be easy to carry and can be as small as the little amp Jack Black had hooked to his belt in School of Rock or something bigger, but smaller and lighter than a Fender Champ/Peavey Bandit.

Can anyone suggest something?

Thanks

Smokey is small enough to hook on your belt.

Marshall MS-2 (or is it an MS-4?)

But my vote goes for the Roland Microcube. Excellent little practice amp. Can't hook onto your belt lah but you have so many sounds/tones/efx to choose from a unit thats tiny!

Thanks.

I just saw the Spider III 15 W amp on the City Music ad. Has anyone tried this?

Who carries Roland here in Singapore?

Roland would be Swee Lee.

If you are looking at the City Music sale, sub has been recommending that tiny Vox AD5 (or DA5 or something) that looks similiar to the Microcube but with a ton of functions.

Isn't the Spider 3 above your weight/size specifications? :)

Thanks Daniel.

I only saw the Spider III in the City Music ad, it looks small and is only 15w.

I'll check out the vox and the Roland.

Btw, hope you are still enjoying the distortion and delay

I gave the delay away. :)

The distortion is still with me, waiting for a little modification.

Thanks for your generousity.

Vox DA5- hearing is believing 8)

Haha..well my vote goes for the Vox Pathfinder 15R. Small and light but with more functions than the DA5 or Microcube(it's slightly smaller than the Spider III) at only $145 from City Music. Or the Ibanez Valbee, small but powerful enough and its a tube amp whats more. All for $390 if I'm not wrong from Swee Lee. And yes, it probably fits the size criteria more than the Pathfinder or Spider III. But it hasn't much headroom, and no built in effects but that shouldn't be a problem. Happy hunting!

just tried a spider III
features quite a lot of tings
but not da best sound u could 4 a practice amp
i would recommend a m.cube or a cube 30
da spider sounded quite digital
better go grab it soon if u like it
i heard tt da 1 i tried 2day is da last piece

I don't recall the Vox Pathfinder having multiple amp simulations or multiple effects other than reverb?

yea those hard plastic cases available in different colors, unlike a flimsy cigarette box.
hmm ok, found ebenex's number.
they're a branch of the aussie ebenex company, and they arent dealers for smokey.
the aussie dealers sell it for A$59.95, nm i'll call ebenex up when they open at 10, and hope its way cheaper than that.
