Hi just learn electric guitar 1 mnth ago, after one month of learning, i will like to get a better amp, currently i have a fender mustang 1 with all the preset which i only use a few, i intend to get zoom g3x so the built in effect in the fender mustang may not be in use, i like to play pop rock song like dire strait, gun n roses and metallica, any recommendation?
Where to get? Price range $300- $500
15w to 30w will be enough

I'm no pro in amp but then here's my advice.

There's totally no need for you to upgrade your amp. Your current amp is good enough for practice.
What's more is that you just started electric guitar 1 month ago. Just concentrate on learning and improving first.
You can just use zoom's effect instead of the amp.
Until you are really really good , then think about changing amp.

For me , i will not even think about changing amp cause most of my sound comes from my pedals. I rather you get your effects right first before going to the amp.

Oh and another thing , i think a 10w amp is enough ? even if you purchase a 30w amp, you wont be using it to it's fullest cause of the constraint due to living in Singapore.(everywhere also complain).

Cheers ! :D

zyang has given very good advice. The fender mustang is a very good amp. You really need to play and not get to fought up in the gear collection race. I have 2, 5 watt amps and even in a big apartment I can't even get beyond a quater volume. Just have fun.

I think the Mustang on board FX sounds better than Zoom G3X. I owned older zoom Multi FX and never liked their synthetic dirt sound. My friend has a G3 and I heard him play live over Fender Twin Reverb, it's just not there. Modulation and delay fx is ok though. But this is just my opinion. :)

Thanks for all the reply , thinking of getting a tube amp end of this year with my bonus; any suggestion?
Thinking of 3 amp on my mind
Marshall dsl 15c, dsl 40c or sl5; i read that dsl15c sound not that good in low volume especially at room volume

I think it's a waste of money buying anything expensive.

There's a reason why it's called practice amps. Why waste money on an amp when it's just for u to play to yourself at home?

When you go jamming or perform, you're gonna be using some badass amps already.

I'm using a Marshall mg15 <$100 2nd hand.
When I jam or perform, I play through a lot bigger tube amps.

I just don't see the need to buy expensive tube amps at home unless you're planning on bringing your amp with you when you have a performance.

agreed. thats why i suggested the yamaha thr range but TS prolly doesnt understand

Thanks for yr suggestion; just my point of view as a learner will we get dishearten when other newbie guitar sound much better with tube amp, and no matter hw hard i practise just cannot get that sound; thank for all your suggestion;

First world problems. Hahahah.

That depends on yourself already. Slash started learning the guitar with classical guitar that only had 1 string

Another alternative is to get a cheap and good amp with a good clean channel.

Focus more on pedals and multi efx.
There's no point if you get a good tube amp but still uses a pedal's distortion or multi efx.

And there's really no point in getting a tube amp unless you are really rich.
Cause when you are going for gigs/jamming, you will be using their amp instead of yours.
Unless you bring your own amp, that will be a different story.

Cheers ! :D
