Hi,i am a beginner guitarist who started playing guitar form about 5 months. This my first time attempting to play blues.I do not know much blues song so i need you guys to tell me some which are nice to play. Please recommend something that sounds good and not too difficult to play.Thx in advance

My favourite bluesman is Peter Green and Howlin' Wolf. Any material from Fleetwood Mac during the Green era is pure gold. And maybe you can try your hand out at one of the Wolf's most famous tune, 'Smokestack Lightning'. Just one wicked lick repeated throughout the whole song.

Not meaning to be didactic or rude. But maybe you shouldn't play blues just because you think it'd be fun or 'nice' to play.
The blues is all about the feeling. You've got to feel it to play it.

And what better way to feel it then to listen to plenty of the blues to get an idea of what the blues is about.
And from there, you go on to discover and subsequently learn your own personal favourite blues pieces. Simply because they tug at your heart-strings, simply because they give your an aural orgasm. And that's when you've really got the feeling and you'll be able to truly play the blues!

The blues might be easy technically, but it's the simplest things that are always the hardest to play.

Check out youtube, you might want to start with understanding the blues shuffle and the blues scale. Which is basically the pentatonic scale with a few added 'blues' notes. Learn out to feel it and play over the shuffle. That's a good way to start, in addition to listening to the blues itself!

+1 to the ultimax

exposure to lots and lots of blues music is a great way to start. see how these artists express their emotions through their music and u'll really start appreciating it.

try buying the best of freddie king.
he's simple enough to start learning his chops. especially his 50s stuff. covers all the basics broadly speaking

I don't think you have to be sad to play the blues. I don't think Robben Ford, Joe Bonamassa or Hendrix was really sad when they play. You just need the feel.

Don't need to have a mortgage you cant keep a wife you can't please or a guitar you cant keep to be able to play some blues. You may not sound soulful or truthful as much, but you can play it. You just got to be able to dig inside you to at least get a whiff of what Blind Lemon Jefferson felt.

Even then, let me tell ya', your not really getting it like they used to. We all never will. So just learn it, and play it, just make sure it's coming from right inside you.

Rock Me Baby by B.B King, Dust My Broom by Elmore James. Anything in the first two John Mayall albums, and like Wolfman said, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Jesus Just Left Chicago by ZZ Top.

More modern stuff try I Don't Need No Doctor, the John Schofield John Mayer version. Come to Bed by John Mayer (blues? you decide~ and as a beginner you need to learn some chords and how to use some blues notes in a more contemporary format) and hey, the best cliche, Still Got the Blues by Gary Moore. It's not blues in a sense, but in the broad picture, its a fun song~

one that is sorta bluesy that i like to play to is Little Wing.

Also you can try some of the John mayer stuff, try soloing to "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" just e minor blues but fun to play.

yeah.i think little wing is good cos u can learn lots of cool licks from the song and improvise your own later on.
u can try mary had a little lamb by SRV.not that hard to play

Michael Bloomfield, Stevie Ray Vaughan, BB King, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Junior Wells, Peter Green, Paul Butterfield, Willie Dixon

oh yes they were sad, u listen to the lyrics of the song

Granted lyrics are sad, my point is you don't have to want to be sad or have to have been through the gutter to want to play blues or have a good feel for the blues.

Although folks who has seen more of the world do sound 'better'.

I hope that don't mean Trevor Jalla is always bloody downcast when he's onstage~

Junior Wells, Paul Butterfield, Willie Dixon

Just pointing out to the TS, Junior Wells and Paul Butterfield are blues harp players, and Willie Dixon is known for his songwriting and bass playing.

my advice (worth 2.14 cents, after GST): don't learn to play sexy blues licks or orgasmic solo lines first. Most importantly, learn to comp the 12-bar blues. once you can comp properly playing the 12-bar blues, then move on to solo on 12-bar blues.
