just to hijack, anyone has any inside info as to when the swee lee sale will take place?

and based on past exp, how long should i camp outside the shop if i really wanna get it fast?

Wellll. I often arrive at least one to two hours early, and there's already a queue so...

But the most recent sale didn't have as long a queue as usual. I guess because of the economy. So if there's another sale this year, the queue might not be too bad too. But most of the people who come early will still be the same- those who rush first to get the limited items.

Alvin is right. Forums are not usually on display. Exports are, and of course, the higher-end Master (or is it the Reference ?) series. You may be able to get a deal on the Forums if they have stock in the warehouse. I seriously doubt it though because they are usually short-handed and will have no time to entertain queries for not-on-display items.

Also, you would have to wait. Intelligence suggests that the next sale may not come till 3-4 months later.

Yeh. I think it might be a newer Forum. The one with almost similar specs to Exports.

Actually during the two sale, one of the the display was a red color Forum with
ISS mount means it is the new Forum....

According to the SL staff, drums like Pearl Forum, or Imperial or Superstar are usually the snap up like hot cakes.......likewise with the Yamaha sale, drums are all snap up early......

So you may have to queue 24 hours in advance to get the drums....

Recent Rhythm Magazine ratings were as follows:

1. Mapex VX
2. Gretsch Catalina Maple (is at the top end of your budget, but the pic has four toms in all - two were floor)
3. Tama Imperialstar
4. Pearl FX Forum (the package included free cymbals)
5. DDrum Diablo Punx

I started with a Premier Cabria which was quite durable.

2 Hours is probably okay. The crazy overnighters are usually those with the insanely expensive, limited collector's edition kind of items. Buy and resell for high amounts on ebay!

I'm considering spending quite a lot on this years sale... let's see how it goes. On that day I CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT have camp duty =X

i just bought a peace spectrum from ezimusic. contact ricky about it.

its 3 maple inner ply. and 6 outer mahogany ply. only costed 890. no cymbals, no throne and no pedal though.

Both of those are pretty good choices! One thing I don't like about the black hawk, though, is that the one I played before had only 5 tension rods around the toms, rather than the usual 6.

hihi, I'm actually looking for a drumset as well - entry level for practice in hdb.

Hmm, what about pdp and mapex? Saw on drumsresources, that the QR series going at $960 - last set though.

Wow $960! Is it brand new? If it is then its an excellent deal. I can help order some of these brands at a better price but $960 is a real steal for a new QR. Grab it if you can man!

Just to share abit more: I'm planning to sell away my E-kit (fingers crossed that it'll fetch a decent amount), buy a normal set, invest in a good pedal and 'screw-type' throne (as I'm quite tall, and had'd bad experiences with the normal ones)...
