Hi,

Let's say I have a preamp pedal e.g Mesa Boogie V-Twin Pedal or Hughes and Kettner Tubeman. Should it be considered like other gain pedals and placed infront of modulation and time based pedals or at the end of the effects chain?

yes.

if you are running direct to PA system, i recommend

wah - comp - drives - preamp - volume pedal - modulations - delay - PA (or amp)

that would be a bit screwed... if u use delay or trem or other modulation its gonna sound quite screwed... i think bens one is much more appropriate

and that y amps got efx loop

Hmm... different opinions from different ppl. Anyone that owns the mesa V-twin or H&K tubeman that can share their experience?

I don't like to say this but...

Which sounds better to you?

just play around, it will come to you - its not rocket science... its .. just tone.

I just received my Hughes and Kettner Tubeman. Putting it at the end kinda screws up the modulation and time based effects. Thus feNdeRbeN's recommendation is more appropriate. :)
