Questions about TC's Nova system

Hey guys, considering about getting this awesome effect

One thing that bothers me greatly is, I play alot of varied material from Metallica to Dream theater to Mr big.

I havn't really tried the nova system cos I've been really busy with school and stuff, but my question is HOW HEAVY CAN THIS THING ACTUALLY GO? I mean heavy as in, will the dist side of the effect satisfy my needs? Is the dist/overdrive anything like their Nova drive?

Lastly, can I add a vol expression pedal to it?

I know a few softies have this effect and would like to hear their opinions on this little machine. Thanks!

I own the Nova System. IMHO, the overdrive is great (organic, cleans up with the guitar's volume knob), but the distortion just doesn't cut it for me. Perhaps I'm just too lazy to tweak the parameters, considering that I am happy with my analog drive pedals, but my preliminary experimentation has shown that you can get a British crunch at most. I bought the NS mostly for the delays and modulations, both of which have far surpassed my expectations. Why don't you consider running one or two good single drive pedals before the unit? I'd recommend the Barber Dirty Bomb for all out metal.

You can add a volume/expression to it. The manual has the instructions, but I haven't tried this out because I don't need the on-the-fly tweakability.

Going with hotter pups, you can hit early metallica tones.

That's about it.

No modern, thunderous chugga wuggah.

Other than that gain range, I actually enjoy the gain tremendously. It kind of reminds me of a hairy, rat-ish tone.

I'm using EVO bridge, is that hot enough?

Hm...I think I'll consider the nova drive in addition

I suppose?

The thing is - if you wanna buy an extra drive pedal... you'll end up having to tap dance. You have to switch on/off your clean side of efx, and switch on/off your drive + efx.

By the way, I heard that getting a Nova System overseas is quite a bit cheaper.

Ya man, blackwoods sell what 1.2k?

I've checked online at other sites and without shipping is about 700. Not bashing blackwoods here but stating a fact.
