question on buffers

hey there ppl, sry gotta ask noob question

ive done some research on buffers already but i still have my doubts on it

buffers are appreantly suppose to solve that problem of tone loss from long wires or just too many effects in ur chain (even if they are true bypassed)... and according to love pedal a buffer "prevents the loss of signal level , high end frequency response, low end punch that is caused by cable capacitance and poorly designed input stage/circuitry of some effect pedals"

what i want to know is what the buffer actually does to your signal (and hwere its usually placed), does the buffer actually alter ur guitars true tone in the process of this "aiding"? cuz what i expect in a buffer is something that just makes up for inevitable tone loss, without compensation of ur true tone, dont want to be rash to get one in the future and be disappointed

btw some buffers (or pedals that can work as one) are the xotic rc booster, the barber launch pad and lovepedal buffer

thanks so much in advance for thsoe who give proper advice

Buffers are NEVER transparent. Anyone who claims so - is lying.

;)

If they are transparent they are not working.

Placement of Buffers in my experiences, I do NOT enjoy any buffers before my dirt pedals. The change to tone and dynamics is obvious...

I'd put a good quality buffer @ the end of my dirt pedals.

For something good sounding (better than boss/ibanez type) and cheap, consider Doobtone. USDXX for the Doobtone buffer in a mini box, Nice little fella.

Where to find? Ebay and TGP. ;)

Incidentally, i have 1 soon up for sale..but that'll wait till your thread is technically answered and if you do have the interest for 1 in your rig.

Do note that buffers before/after a pedal gives a different response, some like it in a certain way...others might not.

thanks shred, that answered my question very well, hmm i guess ill try a buffer and place it after my dirt devices

edo when ur ready to sell that doobtone gimme a pm thanks :)
