Question about Ebay

Hello world, i just won my first bid for something that i bid on Ebay (lol. So noob) about 2 days ago. So the seller sent me a message that he has sent it. The thing is, how will i know when it will arrive and what happens if i'm not home when the postman comes? Cause the other time i shipped something from the states, and i think it arrived sometime in the afternoon but someone at home collected it for me.
i read somewhere that. Paypal can like track the location of your parcel. If that works, how do i go about doing thisThanks in advance! .

Depends on the size of the item. If a single cd or small items, the postman will just put it in your letter box. If noone is at home to recieve they will leave a notice for you to collect at any nearest branch, that is usually for slightly bigger items that can't fit into the letterbox. For those really big items, they'll send you a mail to collect it yourself at the branch.
Usually you won't know it has arrived until it arrives. I think for overseas parcels there is no tracking system for them, its for US local delivery. If you are afraid that it might get lost, damaged etc during shipping its advisable to pay abit more for insurance ( for those expensive stuff usually). Hope that helps.

there is a tracking number if and only if it is provided. it is not a service of paypal, instead it is provided by USPS if thats what you're using.

There is an option for the seller to ship the package by PayPal Shipping with U.S. Postal Service ("USPS"); basically the seller will that PayPal service to create a shipping label for the package. Notification will be done via PayPal, and will contain the USPS tracking number and the shipment number.

If the item is sent by USPS, tracking number is only available under Global Priority Mail and Express mail. If the seller sends via First Class International, which is much cheaper than the other two, there will only be customs number and you can't track the whereabouts of your parcel.

Congrate

Ask the Seller through ebay for a USPS Track & Control Number...it goes something like
eg CXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

then goto:-

http://www.usps.com./

and Key in the Track & Control Number.

PS: - It will tell you The date, the time it left the US Port or The Date & Time it reach Singapore....or nothing (which means not send out yet).

Normally it takes about 1 day to 2 day for the Postman to Deliver to you (and usually in the Afternoon from 12pm onwards)......

If you're not around - then they will leave a White Card..where you can fill in Details to get someone to collect onj your behalf or you go down the next day (something like that)....not to worry.

PS: PayPal does not track the location. Oh and yes Remember once you get your item (and if the item is in good condition and well pack - ALways remember to give your Seller at ebay a 100% FeedBack - by doing so they will likewise give you a 100% Positive feedback - as feedback cannot be retrieve once made- seller usually only give you a FeedBack when you gave him 1st)...

LOL! Kidding ah.. Tempting you only.. But seriously I just bought one vintage cam..:mrgreen:

Darn. Some of the stuff i want only ship within the US :\
OMGGGGGGGGG. Eggciting! I want my parcel soon!

So if they leave a note right, will they stick it on my door or trow it in the mailbox?
My mailbox is the "no junk mail" kinda mail box. The postman has full access of what's in my mailbox. WHAT IF HE DECIDES TO TAKE MY PACKAGE!
Ok, maybe i'm just a little too paranoid.

I've bought things online but at that time my maid was home 24/7 so she helped me take the package. But now, maid bye bye. And my house is empty half the time :\

The feeling never gets old..Its like geting a present, always a pleasant suprise. You hold the parcel in your hands and can't wait to open it.

Edder bro...now more high tech liao lor...got free sniping program for ebay, no need to stay up till 4am lah ;) I haven't used it tho.

AgingYouth: Threadless! Too bad they're becoming increasingly common in Singapore.

kerplunk182: EH. I just won my first eBay auction, in a long while. Been banned from using my dad's CC for payment for a long while now. Heh. A pair of hi hats. Damn sweet, I tell you. Absolutely nothing beats winning the auction for something you've been searching for high and low for close to two years.

Bro aging youth bro... me too but I buy only when there's a sale. Got enough Tshirts to last till end of the year. But I really like that Darth Vader pruning his Death Star tree.... aiyoh!

Elias: yeah, during those days they have it too but sometimes you just gotta be there you know what i mean.... ;)

Just got my first package today! Woohoo. Thank God my brother was home to help me collect it. If not... Whoa, problem.

Waiting for the 2nd one now. Patience... Patience!
