hi ppl, wondering which is the correct method for pressing some chords..........
eg, B minor....some website show need to press the 4th string, some website show dun need, leave the 4th string as open....i am confused....

Standard B minor shape is bar at second fret, then:

2
3
4
4
2
x

also at seventh fret

7
7
7
9
9
7

Where does it say leave 4th string open?

There are many different voicings and positions for the various chords. If you learn the basic theory behind it about triads and stuff you will roughly understand why.

vernplum's one is correct yeah and you can learn that first.

I am not a guitar player but the logic should apply.

Bm - B D F#

Since the 4th open string is G, leaving it open will create an augmented 5th which does not belong to the Bm chord.

You need to fret the 4th fret of the G string to make the root B note if you want to play the Bm chord or the 2nd fret to form a Bm7 chord.

I love pianists... Give them a chord, and they'll invert the hell out of it for you... and still tell you that They're still playing Bm.
