Hi as stated above, I would actually like to give my guitar a new look so I was thinking of cutting a new pickguard out and actually re-spraying my guitar so I made this thread hoping that softies who are more experienced in this area could answer my few qns.

1.Is lacquer the only option to paint pick guard(acrylic)/guitar's body?
2.Or lets say if I want to make it more personal and i decided hand draw my pickguard what kinda medium is advised of? (waterproof?perma?) and then again I believe that I've to coat it with a layer of lacq? or are there other alternatives?
3.Regarding the new coat of paint for the guitar's body do i have to sand off the original layer of paint coat before giving it a new coat, or it's fine if i just sprayed it over?
4. I know art friend sells acrylic sheets and I know they would surely have the basic colours but do they offer something alil diff for instance transparent or reflective ones?
5.As for sanding/buffering what kinda sand paper would be recommended?
6.Where to buy those lacquers pref those with glossy finishes/if there other better alternatives than lacquers kindly state em :)

For pickguards :
You can try what most sign makers do.
Use a clear piece of clear acrylic (2 or 3 mm)cut to the pickguard shape, paint or do what ever designs you want on the reverse side then protect the artwork with a vinyl sticker carefully avoiding bubbling.
Your art is visible on the front of the clear acrylic . No lacquer required.
Simple as that!!:-D
