hey guys...

have you all had any experience buying your axes online from musicians friend dot com? alot of people, including my mum tell me its unsafe and in most cases customers get cheated even though the order seems to cock up or something like that. i dunno.....i bought my zen stone mp3 player thru an sg site and it was delivered to my house in mint condition. but since musicians friend is all the way in the US.....

im getting my gibson v there. i have enough money by next month and will be using my mum's visa to pay for it first.

so is it really safe purchasing it from online?

thanks! really need to be enlightened on this =)

i think it's pretty safe since vPost do advertise it on their website.
i think u should contact vPost abt it if u're unsure of anything.
that's the best way i guess.

I thought most US-based online guitar stores only ship to US, its overseas territories and dependencies, and some limited countries, like nearby Canada. So far no international shipping for online sales unless you call the sales people there for enquiry or quotation.

Do read the shipping policy first.

Musicians' Friend does international shipping, I'm planning to bring in a cymbal once they replenish their stock.

Furthermore, they've links to vPost, which would make things a whole lot easier.

i never knew how Vpost work, you have to sign up, then they give you a local US address to mail it to, then you pay what kind of rates? must sign up one right? so it's like regular air mail ?

major online retails cant direct ship Gibson guitars.

HarrisonYeo: Doesn't really bother me, drummer here. :D There's always a way round the system, it's just whether you're willing to pay.

doggieshaman: I've yet to ship something in via vPost. Yet to understand the concept either. Can't really be bothered, seems like quite a hassle but that's the only way I can get my cymbal from Musicians' Friend.

you gotta use vconcierge if you wanna buy from musician's friend. cause you need a us billing address and vconcierge will provide you with one for a fee. i got an entire drumset from musician's friend, the fees cost a hell lot

yup you're right, can do so via vPostUSA... I'm a frequent user of that though I'm not pretty confident of their take (ie vPost's) on shipping musical instruments.. I mean, for the online retailers, they just ship the items to the vPostUSA address, and on their part, they have completed the transaction... but I'm not sure whether from that address or storage place, the item will be shipped to Singapore...

anyway, so far buying from local distributors seems to be the less hassle and cheaper option, unless somebody shares with us convincingly how buying guitars online can be cost-saving, hassle-free and benefits aplenty.

Unless it's a group buy or bulk purchase, and shipped by sea, buyers can share the shipping cost and save cost.
Does this forum allow bulk purchase threads? If yes, my friend has bulk purchases lobang for Epiphone guitars from overseas.
