PRS Tremonti SE Versus Ovation VXT D

actually ovation was making electric geetars back in the 70s/80s, long before any of us were into geetars.

One of the more well known user was the fella from kyuss and later queen of stone age.

Anyway, theres some pictures of their early electric geetars below. The earlier model has some resemblance to klein geetar as well.

The LP shape looks fine to me, actually. It's the other two designs that I don't like. The 2nd one looks rather weird, and the 3rd one looks too aggressive to be used for anything other than metal. And I know what many of the metal players will be asking: is there a version with a double-locking tremolo?

Wooooo thanks for the awesome illustrations pathein. You learn something new everyday. Try looking for the old Variax 700 electric, i personally like that one very much.

Josh Homme is also with Them Crooked Vultures. :) Not sure if he still uses Ovations with Them Crooked Vultures, but we do know that he likes unusual and less common guitars.

To the TS: it seems to me you don't really know what you want. You keep flitting from guitar to guitar asking for our opinions. What matters is YOUR opinion of the guitar. If you think its awesome, by all means, grab it! It'll be much easier for us to help if you state your budget and tonal preferences, rather than asking our opinions of a myriad of different guitars.

@exopolitics: Tommy Emmanuel is the key endorser, i believe G77 stocks them. I don't know of anyone who owns one though, although i have heard rave reviews about the 2k+ models.

thanks for the info! haha g77 don't... sadly. i already asked. they only bring in if you want to get it. it's always important to me to try it out before buying.

Hahaha np at all, awwwww that's sad, you're an Emmanuel fan i take it? So i am haha. Its good that you always try before buying, lots of people buy on impulse and regret it later. I guess the next best option is to find someone who owns one and try it? That or go to Australia lol.

I went to Davis. They don't let me test out the PRSs, that's why I'm seeking out opinions.....

Last time i was there. i ask to try, they refuse and told me, try only if i am to "die die" buy straight away.....

I didn't have the chance to try Ovation yet.

If i had tried out the guitars, i wouldn't be lurking around this forum asking for help.

How come they dun let u try? When i went there to try some acoustics including the higher end takamine, they were pretty willing to let me try. I find that their service is good.
