PRS:5-way Rotary Switch

This is outta topic. So i apologize.

Btw shredcow, RS Guitarworks, emailed me. They are having a movin sale and 30% off all RS guitar works electronic set. You interested in getting? I wanna get the long shaft set for my les paul.

Ratboy i doubt I can use dat w/o routing in my SG ?? Rite??

Yeep, doubt you can fit a strat style switch into a toggle switch hole
w/out major wood removal

just that the 5 way switch was mentioned and a great opportunity to post my excess stock : )

SG? Then a rotary switch with a chicken head knob might do, won't look that out of place. =)

But with 4 knobs and a switch there's actually quite a lot of options for wiring like the shredcow says.

lets see

one hole for vol pot, one for tone pot
one 5 way rotary to for neck humbucker with say
single coil/humbucking series/humbucking parallel/out of phase/other single
another 5 way rotary for bridge humbucker with say
single coil/humbucking series/humbucking parallel/out of phase/other single
another 5 way rotary for neck/humbucker switching for say
neck only/ neck n bridge series / neck n bridge series out of phase / neck n bridge parallel / bridge only

so you get approx 5 x 5 x 5 variations = 125 combinations

think i'll try wiring my guitar like that someday .....

Ratboy - you certainly could and frankly, you SHOULD!

Because you'll never know when you will use some of those combinations.

I went thru a major tweaking phase so... I have my own ideal switching layouts. Truth be told - I really didn't know what I NEEDED. I had to do it then realise - oh, looks like I'm not touching this split switch that much... time to change.

Its an enriching journey.

Hmmm...

Here's another switching system that would be very very useful and practical.

1 x vol
1 x tone
1 x 4-way selector
1 x phase switch

The 4-way selector only comes into play when the pup selector is in middle position and this gives the choice of*:

1) Neck & Bridge
2) Neck & Bridge inner coils
3) Neck split
4) Bridge split

*not in order and I might be a little off on the details but the idea is there
