pros and cons of a 6-string bass?

But some lines require quite crazy movement on the fretboard if you don't drop D >_<

Ah, i get it. Never considered changing my tuning to drop d cos i really try to utilize my b so i don't feel like i should have just settled for a 4 string bass. Haha!

hey, thanks for all that feedback.

now that someeone relate the 6 string to an ironing board, i take a step back at my GAS. haha! i'll try out the 6 string again. see if i could get used to it. sometimes the stretching over my current 4 string gives my letf hand a good strain already.

my issue is that i'm not sure if i'll use the low B a lot. but i'll definately be liking the high C. so how about if i get a 5 sting and string it E A D G C instead?

i tried out a Shine 6 string. it had 24 frets, hence a small body and didn't weight pretty much. (6 strings, 24 frets: what more about range can one ask for!) sound was quite ok for it's price.

i really agree with one thing though: the monster neck is only nice to look at!

I think you're onto something. Try an EADGC bass with a drop-tuner on the E string peg. I have two 5-string basses, one is traditional BEADG and the other is EADGC but without the drop-D tuner. Thats cos I mainly use an Ex-Factor for my gigs. I might wanna try that idea I just posted in the first paragraph though. Its just that my heart is screaming "no....get an MTD 535 first "......................

Haha ya it's me, 6 string more convenient for me, no need to keep moving up and down the finger board. But definitely slap very slow compared to 4 string.

i get it!

slapping-> 4 string
tapping -> 6 string
regular playing-> 1 string already enough. hehe..

does drop D tuning means tuning down from EADG to DGCF? that would be useful for me because the songs i play in church has a lot of Eb. i will try it the moment i get home to my baby.. but won't the strings get loose? i'm using extra light gauge.

but move up and down fretboard makes it look more difficult than it really is (because it is) and hence makes u look more PRO than u really are

then you can get laid and die from drug overdose

Strings die faster with all those sliding...
Maybe I should try switching back to a 26 fret warwick then haha

1-string bass better. But must have 92 frets, no less.

Seriously, I can get by with the E and A strings. I think its more groovy that way most of the time! Try!
