During the last mass order organised by mattdavios from http://www.cocosound.jp, the prices for some items were as follows:
Gotoh
510T-RS2 $78
510TS-RS2 $98
510T-FE2 $70
510TS-FE2 $90
SGS510Z - S5 button - Chrome = $59
SGS510Z - S5 button - right-handed strat - (XC) $78
SGS510Z - S5 button - Chrome - HAPM = $73

Any of these plus shipping $20. (per person in the mass order which i'm guessing around 8 to 10)
Would these be considered cheap? The mass order didn't happen cause it was short of about 4 more orders but the prices were quoted from http://www.cocosound.jp. Maybe you guys could order your supply Gotohs from there, the only hurdle would be to correspond with them in japanese, but it will be way cheaper than your current source (If by any chance the price is a good indicator of the cost).

well in terms of unique builds such as rainsong or other carbon fibre constructed guitars its a love hate affair, either u are taken by the uniqueness of the sound or u hate it to the core. safe to say that if u tried one and u like it then its pretty safe to say ure appreciative of how one sounds and thus can prob order one sight unseen from the states.
and many things are readily available online such as clips, demos, videos, reviews on guitars which could aid our shopping online experience. pedals might be easy to bring in and i doubt ebenex would have any probs bringing them in seeing their huge range of products.
but for guitars its different. i mean so far i have met loads of pple who arent willing to splash on guitars. most of them just wanna try but not fair to pple who bring them in if all that happens is their guitars get tried without anyone buying. or u get the other scenario that was also brought up about the prices being high. its mostly true due to monopoly in our small market. say u want dealers for suhr. how many pple are actually willing to bring suhr guitars in. and it was really raved abt til the suhrs came in and now the prices are super high and no one has bought them. pretty much either way for guitars wont work cos even if someone brings them in its gonna cost more than a pretty penny.

Don't like them then don't buy from them. Same thing as what i do.

bc rich. though DAVIS claims to be a bc rich authorized dealer if you've seen the crap BC rich axes they bring in (only the low end agathis rubbish) it's really sad because its a brand thats misrepresented.
i had to order my masterpiece MG online, which kinda led me to regret a bit cos i had to zzheng it up spending more than the guitar's price itself (pickups, floyd rose, tuners, pots) nonetheless they are pretty guitars
well to be fair unless you are a millionaire and just want to set up a 'shop' to fool around your retirement days i think all shops think of ordering high selling models first before catering to the rest of us with GAS fetish

I think all these comes back to point one which is the relative low demand here in Singapore.
Its not surprising because our population here is small, and people who play musical instruments will likewise be smaller. In the end, we won't get a full range of items to choose from from shops here. Order through online is the way to go, but we've gotta pay for the non-bulk purchase, not forgeting the insane shipping fees which can get to half the price of the product itself.

SG isn't the place for musicians
I think everyone wants Mesa Boggies, ENGL and other high end or boutique stuff. Or should i say stuff that you see when you read a guitar mag like guitarist or total guitar. If not for TyMusic and ebenex, i think we would all be ebaying our stuff.
And due to the fact that it's expensive, stores here don't seem to want to take the risk of bringing it in and plus the mega monopoly of Swee Lee doesn't help either.... They overprice stuff and get distribution rights but dun bother to bring it in....
Besides, how many professional musicians can you find over here who do it full time not on a part time or as a hardcore player?
