Problematic Guitar

In my opinion, i find the line 6 spider a lil' too sharp. Like its 'over-gained'.
And plus a small el budget zoom efx..

I agree that spider amps are shrill sounding and the insane mode sucks..
But I disagree about the Zoom part!

personally i don like either of those brands......but i feel zoom has come a long way from since the time i used their 505II......the G2 is much better sounding....but in my opionion zoom stuff is still more suited for high gain applications.....e.g metal as it excels in that area without sounding too digitalish.

Wat i wld suggest is that u trash the pickup change, and instead go for another amp. Some of the best tones come from guitar straight to amp. Save up for a killer amp and ur guitar will sound gd without any pickup change. Extra sustain jus up the gain and delay, like wat someone else suggested earlier. As for those who come here to flame, plz don't it isn't gonna help anyone and only distracts us from the topic at hand. I suggest u tweak the amp and the pedal like mad, play with everything. Ur sure to get at the very least a decent tone outta it after several solid hours of tweaking and getting to know ur amp and pedal's subtle nuances and quirks.

haha yeah, but still, if he plans to gig, hes going to need some solid pedals cos in local context it aint customary to lug amps around. Overseas different story la.

Still no amount of pedals is going to save you if you cant get at least a decent clean sound with your amp. my suggestion is to get a amp that works well with pedals, like the orange or epi valve junior. the line 6 spider sound with pedals is so-so only la personally i hate the way it colours my gain tone with its supposedly clean emulations, had a bad experience using it in gigs and at a particular suite room studio *hint hint*.
