Price of Gibson Les pauls

Price of 2nd hand gibsons are at least above 2K. epiphones are not as good as other LP copies like edwards or grassroots.

Fourthly, there're some quite okay alternatives.

i agree on this. i've tried other les pauls that are magnificent, edwards, burny, tokai, orville. all fantastic guitars.

but i have to tell u. acquiring a gibson, inspired me to play better, and to improve. when i got my les paul, my learning curve shot up. i mean shot up.

imo, if something, be it and amp, pedal, guitar, whatever, can inspire you to greater heights, i think its worth it.

One good example of such person is subversion!

There's no such thing as an affordable okay alternative to the Gibson Les Paul. Those who say there is, has not had the experience of owning one. The only thing better than owning a Gibson Les Paul is having one made for you to your specs.

Everything else will result in a "what if" scenario. You will always have to justify your purchase.

Notice this: Edwards, ESP, Burny, Tokai owners will always tell you how good thair LP copy sounds with this or that pups. They will always justify their ownership of a copy.

A Gibson Les Paul owner will simply tell you: I have a Gibson Les Paul. Nothing more, nothing less.

Those copies are good copies. They're not bad guitars. But when you own a well made Gibson Les Paul, you'll know what I'm talking about. People who buy PRS don't want an LP. They want a PRS. Totally different animal. No point comparing both. I believe someone should own BOTH a Gibby and a PRS at some point in their lives.

I should know. I've been down both routes before.;)

Here's a rule of thumb I follow for les paul standards .

Gibson's list price in USD on their website , thats about the price you should get it in Singapore (in SGD) , it is after all a list price .For e.g , if its 3499usd LIST PRICE , it should cost 3499sgd with the discounts and everything including currency conversion .

For secondhand les pauls , anything above 2400sgd is overpriced , unless its a rare finish or something , in which if its more that 2600sgd , its a rip off hahah . there you go . I may be wrong though .

And please don't get it from sweelee cause 3500sgd for a les paul standard simply doesn't exist in their dictionarys.

i said that i may be wrong , so how much do you think you can get a brand new standard for if i may ask sir?

Well, not too nice to disclose prices on a forum, but lets say your "hard to get" prices aren't far off... Because that's what I paid...

For a slash les paul goldtop you paid $3500 on the dot for that , the price was controlled for that one .

No idea , i just know that particular model was the only one by far going for 3500sgd flat .
I mean the cheaper the better right.

Of course, cheaper the better lah... that's why I snapped it up ON THE SPOT. But the standards at that price weren't a bad choice either.

And on the US price list, the Slash is more expensive than the standards. Strange that Swee Lee sold it cheaper. Hahahaha...
