Premier Drums good?

HI virc

I do not really know about Premier Kits. But, my 1st-Drum Kit (my dad bought for me was a 2nd hand Olympic (by Premier) back in the 70s.

For S$800.00 - Is it Brand New Premier?

I think it might be a Premier Olympic S$950.00 (6mm/Ply Polar Wood) (before GST Accent Music is marketing right now) comes with (18" Cymbals & 14" Hi-hats with Throne)

Premier Cabria is S$1600 (7 ply Phillipine Mahagony) - but Metallic Laquer Finished
Premier Cabria Exclusive S$1800.00 (7 ply Phillipine Mahagony) - Premium Laquer Finished.

PS: - Be patient - get the Best Value for money Kit - I'm sure the Bros/Sis here will assist you as you are very new and getting your 1st-Kit

Happy Drumming

Eric

hey vlrc..

rusty parts aren't any issue.. seriously....

Tension rods are available at 30cents a piece... rusty rims doesn't effect sound/tuning.. (can be cleaned with chrome polishers etc)....

what other stuff might be rusty?? screws for lugs... tension rods, hardwares... doesn't really matter.. all can be changed....

You see, singapore is a very humid country and rust is inevitable... i placed 2 thirsty hippo every 3 months around my drumset but still, some rust spots develops but not so much...

if ur planning to put inside air-con room.. u also have to factor in the air con mold on the hardwares....

my steel sensitone snare, bought 2nd hand and tension rods and the shell body have some rust spots to it, but still, tuning was a breeze... sounds awesome too...

so yeah, look at rusting in a different POV... :D

ok sure..thanks marc and eric..=)

eric: the premier is a brand new set..i wanted to get a new pearl set from alvin but its too ex already..

oh by the way, i received an offer for a set of 2nd hand PDP MX series (with additional floor tom and saddle throne) drums going for 800 bucks.. think i should get that set? if not, i'll pm the guy selling his tama set..=)

thanks so much for all the help and advice!

Premier

HEY, i'm back from camp, and just tried the premier in my schol.

its a black premier olympic kit, i guess its the one you're talking about.
The black shells looks good (I think most new kits looks good)

its already setup (my senior did it)

first impression:
the pedal was super tight, so i went to loosen it thinking it was a simple job, but it took quite some time and i had to open up the whole thing, I don't know how to describe the process, its just troublesome.

It came with just a hihat and crash stand.
I think they make relatively bad hardware (stands and pedals) compared to other brands I'd seen.
you can keep the cymbals that came with it as stocks!
I only bothered to try the crash, it was soft, so if you wanna use em at home its alright.
but that's not really important,
The bassdrum gave a really loud boom with a long ring of about 4SECONDS, had no time to tune it and we have'nt put pillows or blankets into it yet, i guess it could sound much better.

I totally dint like the skins that came with it, they were thin and sounded real high, the 16" floor tom sounded higher then my 12" tom at home.
snare's okay, there the skin's like timpani skin.
the rim's very close to the the drum skin itself, so its very easy to do that kinda hits where u hit both the rim and skin and give a loud metallic ring.

Its a short and unclear review, but
overall there was nothing very impressive about the kit
but it was'nt too bad at all, if you change those skins and cymbals and i guess it would be alright.

here's a pict of it with my senior playing.
you can see how thin the cymbal stand is.
the majestic snare at the absurd position does'nt come with it. haha
we bought a SABIAN Xs20 set came with hihat 14 and 16 medium thin crash and 20 ride. they were all okay, hihat a little too bright for me though. good deal.
