that blue label sadowsky or that designer set that which red dot sells, which you can pawn once you're done with, won't give you instant good tone.
the sound is in your hands and its like getting to carnegie hall...practise!
hmmm...i agree with you, sound is on our fingertips,everybody knows that it takes time to produce 'that' tone,but let others try whatever strings they'd like to try; from my own perspective, suitable set of strings do motivate me in practice, at least the strings contribute to my playing's comfortability (comfortability-> does this word exist?HAHAHA)
fyi, sadowsky strings are considerably cheap and of good quality, that's why i use them,not because of they are some high end boutique stuff, well the basses are, but strings are not...cheers
