preferred bass strings?

that blue label sadowsky or that designer set that which red dot sells, which you can pawn once you're done with, won't give you instant good tone.

the sound is in your hands and its like getting to carnegie hall...practise!

hmmm...i agree with you, sound is on our fingertips, everybody knows that it takes time to produce 'that' tone, but let others try whatever strings they'd like to try; from my own perspective, suitable set of strings do motivate me in practice, at least the strings contribute to my playing's comfortability (comfortability-> does this word exist?HAHAHA)
fyi, sadowsky strings are considerably cheap and of good quality, that's why i use them, not because of they are some high end boutique stuff, well the basses are, but strings are not...cheers

Well....i sorta like the bright sound that Ernie Ball strings give :P.....

but other than that i like DR's... Been wanting to try warwick strings . wondering is the tone good?

Yup agree.

DR-Hibeam is IMO the #1 slapping tone string at it's price range.

You can't stop slapping with that man..but I find it dying pretty easily.

I've no prefered bass guitar strings, same applies to guitar.

Whenever I asked by sale person,
Sale person: 'what type of strings are you looking for?'
Me: 'You know those long and shiny type?'
Sale person: :?

i've seen d'addario chromes a couple of times

i think i already mentioned in this thread that different strings will have different results on different basses.

there is no end-all string. there are only bassists who don't own many different kinds of basses

i don't like DRs because they make my bass sound scooped. once the brightness of the string goes away, i'd be left with a scooped sound minus the highs. which is....

i don't use EB's and daddarios because they are common and i am a snob

ashchong: i've tried the warwick red labels. they suck
