Please recommend gears for beginner electric guitarist

I have been a acoustic gutarist and bassist for 8 years, but this is the first time I learn electric guitar. I just bought a PRS Tremonti SE. Anyway. recommendation for gears(E.g pickups, effects, pedal, strings)? I was thinking of changing the stock pickups, but if I change it, what do I do with me? Keep it with me?

By the way, I play rock(but not heavy metal), jazz and rhythm. Thanks.

PRS tremonti SE! that´s cool! is the neck thicker (fatter) then an Epiphone?

What amp are you using?

As for strings, since u´re using a 24 3/4 neck-length guitar, i´d suggest gauge .11 strings, cos if you opt for thinner ones liek .9, you might find it pretty sloppy.

For all the other stuffs, what would ur budget be?

P.S: if u intend to sell ur PRS Tremonti, do let me know

I have an amp. But what I need is guide on pickups. It´s so confusing. Does the pickup EQ(bass, mid, treble) make a huge difference in sound? I always believe in that the final sound of the guitar can be control by the amp head and the guitar tone knob. By the way, the PRS Tremonti SE is great. A "skinny" version of a Les Paul. Lighter, great neck and actually the pickups are very good. Just wondering whether I should spend an extra $300 just to get the bit of that "better" tone on other branded pickup.

By the way, Dawn, I like my SE very much, and most likely not going to sell it off.

Sorry. Anyway, it´s a bit plain looking(though it´s shiny silver), and only have pearl inlay. I prefer fanciful inlays.

Yup.

I thought the black one was a bit dull and not to my taste. Lifehouse, I read from previous forum post that you are intending to change the pickups on the SE. Have you change them and if yes, what brand and model?

No money yet.. Just bought a Garrison acoustic guit. If I were to change, probably PAF, by DiMarzio. EMGs if you are a metal freak. I´m going for 3 doors down sound.

Is the pickups on that Tremonti SE that bad? Too me it´s okay. At first I also had that notion to change it once I buy it, but after I bought it, I find that the sound is quite sweet, but maybe not so suitable for heavy metal, but it has it´s unique sound.

Maybe I´m not into electronics and pickups, what you mean by "lack character"? No unique and distinct sound? By the way, what music styles you play? And from your nick, can tell that you are a Lifehouse fan.

Just put a good humbucker into this guy and he will roar like a nice Gibson should roar. I don´t think the stock pickups are high output. When I meant lack of character, i refered to it not having a modern or vintage sound.
