using a geetar on bass amp will not make the sound bassy at all. The instrument is still a geetar after all.
I have been playing my geetars on my swr workingman 12 combo at home for couple years. I like the slightly boxy and more obvious mids sounding geetar thru it. Another thing on it is that some distortion, fuzz pedals which doesnt sound good with my 2 other tube amps happen to be pretty decent sounding on bass amp instead.
another thing good bout using bass amp for me is that most of my geetar sound tend to be very modulated and having some prolonged low droning sound which my geetar amp cant take it when theres oscillation of delays going on. With the bass amp i am using, it can take those pretty well. Before the speaker start to rattle/fizzle out, my window grills will sound out first.
anyway, using bass amp for geetar is nothing new, back in the 70s or so till today, the most common occurance is people using fender bassman for geetar. The story//history prolly can be googled as i did came across people discussion in foreign forums and some articles.
on the other spectrum, using a bass on geetar amp will not make the bass sound like geetar as well(at low volume and highly not recommended. It will thin out the low end and make it more shrill sounding, depending on what amp it is.
