any recommendation for a les paul?
the orginal pickups sounds too mushy, muddy , squelly with high gain.
i believe the orignal pickups were japanese PAF pros

is jb/jazz a good combination for metal? tight bass and tight attack etc
? use alot of riff work n stuffs etc

something with iced earth kinda tone? for alot of palm muting and triplets

yeah... Iced Earth style, go for EMG81s. How abt 2 EMG81? I tried it before, excellent killer chunk! Of course, don't hope to play much of other genres lah... heh...

what about emgs 60neck 85 bridge?
im worried about it being muddy

ive got 85 neck 81 bridge on my ibanez

guess on the les paul it would sound supe rheavy?

Well, if you are looking for an Iced Earth kind of tone...

I suppose the passive pups from Dimarzio that would suit you would be the D Sonic. I don't think the X2N will be what you are looking for, its not exactly very thick sounding, but its very cutting.

For the neck pup, maybe some Evolutions or a Tonezone? Depends on what you want, cutting power or fatness.

the original pickups sound sweet with single notes
but when i play chords n stuffs
its just a mess
haha
and sounds weird with hi gain.

so you recommend dimarzio d sonic bridge / evolution bridge?

would dimarzio d sonic bridge/ duncan jb combi gel together nicely?

EMG actives have a lot of clarity, even under high gain and palm muted.

81 - what im using, for both neck and bridge, very 'crunchy' good for bridge but too bright for the neck
60 - has a nice bluesy tone to it, perfect for smooth solos, good for the neck
85 - hmm kinda the bassier version of 81, but its not really an 81 :P my friend uses one on the bridge, sounds pretty good but its more widely known to be a neck pickup

i just tried putting my tubescreamer before the guitar in front of my XXX n distortion.
it sounds very heavy and nice, more definied

but with quite a lot of feedback when im not playing anything.

sounds much warmer than the EMGs i have

Roughly around 130 thereabouts. I think EMGs can be versatile, contrary to many beliefs. With accessories such as the Pi switch, which you can run the pickups in phase when toggled, as well as the DMSK dual mode switch kit which you could have installed to make you pickups simulate single coils. It's pretty versatile if you like to work with the vol and tone knobs.

What do u think is similar to the special Mark Tremonto Treble Pickups?

im loking for osmething with the same sound. cuase im too cheap to spend 180 on a prs pickup

the Duncan Custom has an inclination towards the bass end, the Custom5 would be a better choice for the LP, as the guitar itself has an inherently boomy voicing.

hmm.. wonder if anione can recommend ani pickups suited for blues and vintage rock?? looking for 2 humbuckers.. 8)
