i planning to replace my pickups on my epiphone g400. any ideas? i was thinking of SD 59's in the neck and maybe something like a custom or invader in the bridge. will it work out? any better alternatives?

anyway i play stuff such as taking back sunday, senses fail, saves the day, thrice etc etc :D

hi there, glad to know another SG player... 8)

i'm waiting for my Duncan C5 to arrive, already have a Distortion in the neck of my SG Special.

you proposed combo of '59 & Invader is an interesting proposal but it'll give output diff to your disliking (the Invader being the much hotter unit). also, the Invader has more bass than the '59.

do you go for high gain? if you do, get a pair of hot yhumbuckers in there eg: Distortion. if you'd like some versatility in there, the Duncan Custom Custom & Jazz neck would be a good match.

yah i do go for high gain but i also want to have some nice smooth clean tones. is reserving neck/bridge for individual usage ok?

anyway i've heard that the invader works wonders with light/thin bodied guitars (eg SG) but is not very versitile more suited for rhythm not solos, leads.

i can't relate to that reference but my interpretation of the Invader's performance is that it works very well with bright bodies eg: mahagony/ ash. i have it in my Ibanez S540 (mahagony) & it kills.

if you wish for humbuckers in the bridge & neck for individual use, then IMO any coupling would be great. if you toggle between pickups often, it's adviseable to get a complementary pair, otherwise stick with what you have in mind regardless of the outcome.

veering off a little, Gibson has a very good set of SG pickups- the Iommi signature. give off a sizzling tone even in the neck.

music123 will tell you that they can't ship fender, gibson etc stuff out of US.
but try calling sweetwater.com...i asked if can ship out and he said, sure no problem. :)
only problem was, they didn't have anymore stock for what i wanted...sighz..

the Invader has inclinations towards high gain settings, it also has more bass than other models. if you wish for immaculate clean tones/ hard rock, laid back overdrive, you're better off with the Alnico II Pro instead.

i won't say it's a one-trick pony because elsewhere, there are fans who have it in jazz type guitars 8O . i find the Invader very good for fusion tones too.
