Pickup combos

Since this thread is already here, I'm gonna hijack! hahaha.
Acquiring a Dimarzio DP-100 Super Distortion next week for the bridge on my Ibanez RG. Currently thinking of Air Norton for my neck, any others I can consider? I like depth and clarity btw.

Your hi-jacking doesn't seem to be going very well :p, but...

You could just go listen to what every single pickup on the SD page looks like till u find the right one... And youtube is of course an alternative.

are u telling excalibur bro what everyone here has been telling u ?
gosh.
sounds very sarcastic there ~

sorry can't help it...
the best pick-up combo i tried is..
"Can I buy You a Drink? "..and "My place tonite/later ?"..
the sweet tones I get from that combo are outta this world...
tried it..you will feel blessed..hehehehe

there are other pickup brands outside the standard Duncans or Dimarzios...do try out the other brands like john suhr, bill lawrence, etc etc...i personally haf a john suhr aldrich neck pup...very smooth and there clarity is there...

Hi Itachi, thanks for the John Suhr suggestion. Almost forgot about it... Will look it up at G77 today :)

To bro Silencer, I don't really trust videos on youtube or sound samples. Prefer to hear the real thing or from someone who has actually used the pickup himself. Just my personal preference.

well youtube is usually videos of people actually playing the guitar with the pickups inside so the sound should be the same as if you tried it yourself, provided the sound quality is decent. more so than sound clips on websites such as dimarzio.com where they cut out bits of songs from artists who are just known to use the pickups, post-studio editing and everything. not very accurate. also, what kind/genre of music are you gonna play with your pickup combo? will make recommendations a lot easier.

Preferably something versatile, jazz, rock and metal. I just don't really trust the sound youtube, i agree some are dependable though. It's up to you la really, go with what works for you i say. For me it's more to hearing live. That's all.
