hey chanmin is it possible to convert a strat (not fat strat) into a 2 humbucker setup? im a humbucker kinda guy so i'd prefer it

ERK why would you do that?????
STOPP!

well i guess if the guitar ( any guitar ) is not routed for dual humbuckers.. then u will need to make space ( cut out wood ) to acommodate the humbuckers. thats expensive..if done professionally and could end horribly if you make a mistake....really really horribly..

or you can try putting in single coil sized humbuckers..like SD hot rails etc...

but i've seen those so called conversions for strats to make em use 2 humbuckers?

Certain Strats have "swimming pool" routing allowing for assorted pickup configurations .... all you have to do is use a different pickguard template.

Guitars coming stock with HSS or SSS formats will require additional routing (which can be done DIY) to accomodate the 'bucker. Option available only if the guitar has a pickguard which can cover the "affected" area.

Such routing options would affect the cosmetic appearance of guitars with the pickups mounted directly to the body i.e. guitars without pickguards.

hiya vern - here it is Michael Wolf [michaelw@mesaboogie.com]
he's the one i am liasing directly with in regards to the items. but am thinking the shipping's gonna be a bomb plus mesa does not cover anything outside U.S. so that means...no warranty lei...so whats ur plans? cheers

Hi

Michael Wolf sent me the price list and warranty conditions (haven't read that bit yet).
I saw in one of the other threads about the power supply difference, since those are for US voltage (110?). How would we power the Mesa over here? Some kind of transformer? (Good job I saw that - i had no idea, would have plugged it in and blown it up within 2 minutes of opening the box...)

i think a step down transformer wld do the trick. I got a pedal from the states and the votlage is 110v too. A visit to sim lim got me what i needed

Hi, I think I sent that post. Anyway, be prepared to purchase a very large converter if you are buying stacks which only runs on 110v.

If I'm not wrong, you need like at least 800-1000watts just to get 5+amp of current. Better to get bigger (always overrate), to prevent a meltdown. Which could short out with disasterous consequences.

Hi Mikemann

Thanks for the advice.
I don't know what any of those electrical terms really mean in terms of helping me choose a converter.

I'm not looking at a big stack - just a small combo (F30 or MkIv) but I don't think this will make a difference to what you say will it?

When you say "big" do you mean in physical size? I don't want to have some two wheeled towed generator in my living room. :)

are you guys talking about the step up/down transformers?... vern.its not that big... if we're talking about the same thing..it should be no bigger then a brick.
my friend had a mesa and he used this transformer thingy...

Grain - if you can hear me - you have a Dual Rectifier head; how do you power that?

Hiya Vern
my Rectifier unit has alreadi been set to singapore usage ( 220v )
not a problem at all. if u ever think of buying amps or any electrical appliances from abroad, make sure u tel em wat is ur country's power setting. i mean anywhere around the world.
in other than to really put it to REAL POWER, u have to do it HEAD TO HEAD.
THE SOUND WILL BE BIGGER N POWERFUL.
THIS ONE REALLI SHIOK U TO HELL!!!!
