Pedalboards - NEED HELP!!

Yoz guys

I've been playing the guitar for some time and I can't seem to get the sound I want. I like to jam stuff from Paramore, Saosin, Anberlin, Nirvana, etc. I've been adjusting my amp and my guitar but a friend of mine suggested I get an effects pedal to get all the sounds I want. Is there any pedals that you guys reconmend for me?

I'm using a:
Squier Strat, California Edition
Smarvo 15W amp

(P.S: Or is there an amp that can help me achieve what I want? My amp is kinda... er...)

you can start with upgrading your amp...i suggest a vox valvetronix or a roland cube. effects pedals are not gonna make much of a difference with crappy amps.

okay, thanks for the advice. But what about Crate amps ar? I hear they're not too bad. any model that can emulate a pedalboard as well?

not as well as a roland cube can. also check out the new vypyrs from peavey, supposed to be quite something.

if emulation is ur thing, go for Fender G-Dec amp. got hundreds of amp possibilities.
around $500 i think..
