hello softies.

i currently use...

tuner>Artec power wah APW-5>Artec SE-BEQ>Boss bass chorus CEB-3

thinking of getting EBS compressor, Blowtorch, hartke bass attack preamp, artec analog delay.

i hope you peeps can help me out by advising me if i do get all of those pedals, would any of them cancel each other out? and if the pedals are similar in function like example i'll have two preamps or eq sort. i don't really understand the whole thing about compressor, eq, preamp. cos i have the impression eq = preamp. please enlighten me!

thanks guys :D

i guess mostly classic rock type. more of tone and the likes. but i'll like to venture into fresh sounds as for myself. that's why i'll go for stuff like the blowtorch.

i would think that a modulation or filter effect would have more possibilities than a delay. but that's purely my taste

i have a stereo electric mistress which is a chorus and flanger (not chorus OR flanger such as the fulltone choralflange). besides the traditional uses, i like to set the rate ultra-slow. gets me SOMEWHAT closer to a fretless/double/acoustic bass sound, such as "the widow" by the mars volta. doesn't quite nail it though.

i like to use a fuzz as a specialist pedal. alot of peeps go for alot of fuzzes which they regard as having nice, warm, sweet tones... but then again, alot of people out there are bedroom superstars... so their 'fuzz' ends up being drowned by and large in the mix, and becomes very mild in the end. that is my biggest beef with the big muffs.

my point is, at the end of the day, for the kind of 'kick' your fx lends to the sound of your band, you could do without it and your band would hardly notice. if u use an effect, stick your neck out and make sure you actually make a difference.

maybe for recording you could get awesome sounds... but i don't

i know where i like my fuzz and i wouldnt have any hesitation to go for buzz saw or square wave sounds if necessary.

btw i like the blowtorch... sounds like something that could easily cut through. the eq is headache though

i tried the hema once, i really like it- like lordie said it can cut thru the mix, but what's more its sounds very warm and organic to my ears :)

im just curious about frantone effects... i ever saw pics of the boards of some of the bros here with the lo-tone, but i'm more interested in the bassweet...

the malekko assmaster also looks good. i think 5sw has it

i recommend for your band: mxr m-80 DI, boss compressor sustainer, and your current pedals

i recommend for play around: everything else, depending on your wallet size

hartke bass attack vs mxr m80 di

both are toneshapers/preamps am i right to say?

i'm having a hard time to choose between these two. i've decided to get the ebs compressor anyway. but now the thing is.

hartke bass attack, completely tone shaper

mxr m80 di, has a distortion function (though i don't suppose i'll switch it on cos i'll get blowtorch pending.) and a noise gate. does the noise gate work well? i don't know how! softies helpp (:

anyone out there used both before? i need to know the difference in both pedals. thx!
