Pearl Rhythm Traveller or Tama Stagestar ?

1 thing which i like about Pearl Rhythm is the cymbal and high hats looks much tougher than the TAMA stagestar.. haha.. the TAMA stagestar cymbals and hat really looks like a strap metal to me..

erm, no no no.

the rhythm traveller has the ultimate sucky cymbals. the hats can double up as a china. and they can't be totally closed (a recent personal experience). can fight with the lowest end carlos.

heya. here's my rhythm traveller.

i would say the toms arent the best.
but this set makes a good prac set.
and yes it is really compact.
i could bring this around in a car to jam at my buddie's place or so. =)

yea the cymbals aint the best.
got me a new one.
the cymbal that comes with it is used as a ride for me.
my hi-hat works fine.
but what i love abt this set is its kick pedal.
really responsive to me.
it fits in my room well.
snare's pretty tight sounding yet can be really fuzzy if you wanna do jazz with the brushes.

how much did you buy the rhythm traveller for? and does anyone know how much they're selling the tama stagestar?? i too am in a dilemma over which drumset to buy.

dood. got the traveller for abt 700 + the drum throne.

yea. got it from the building beside peace centre.
cant really remember the name of the building.
yea.
i'm sure the prices have dropped a little.
my set is abt a year old now.
you could also check out swee lee.
they're always having discounts. =)

hey guys, checking out the stats is one thing but, its all about what you really like, the design, the compact size, the sound, the brand. in the end you dont wan to end up buying a kit you regreted right ? both have their outstanding sides but thinking back, in the end, u still prefer your own chioce.

i'm trying to decide which set to buy too...prob gonna end up getting the stagestar. but yeah, it is up to the individual. cos the stagestar is meant for small spaces too so it's fairly compact.

ive used both before.. owned them both before.. sold my pearl and bought tama's.. pearl's traveller has a very slim bass drum.. im a heel up player and use double pedals.. the bass drum will wobble very badly when i fire.. it sucks.. tama's stagestar has a thicker bass drum.. no problems with that..

Definitely the Stagestar

I've tried both kits myself. I'd say the stagestar definitely. That's why i bought it. Though the RT wins hands down in portability, the tone of the drums from SS kicks it. Although it's a little more pricey, it actually feels more like a real full-sized set. The toms on the RT are terrible. They're more like tymp-toms. For cymbals, both provide teporary ones, but the SS's ones sound more real versus RT's thick faux china-gong tone.

feel

How about the feel of it? Some say the pearl mesh heads has the same feel as normal heads. Does the muffleheads/muting pads have the same feel too?

Thanks
Darren

Hi guys, i'm thinking of getting the Stagestar or the Traveller by the end of 2day. I went to Swee Lee and they had a Traveller display set with muting pads/muffleheads. I tested it and the sound was so soft it was quite inaudible.

Is there any way to reduce the sound not by so much by just a little ? I stay in a HDB and i dont want to disturb the neigbours but i oso want to shiok shiok bang drums lar ... :D

Are the muffleheads the only way ?

Sorry for the noob question. Beginner lar ...

Thanks

I went to Swee Lee just now to actually buy the Rhythm Traveller and now they told me the new stock all costs ard 750 ... sheesh.

And i just went last week and was quoted ard 640. Oh well, i guess i'll buy the Stagestar.
